At Brick Ends Farm we are dedicated to producing the highest quality compost, worm castings, compost tea, and amended topsoil among other products. A foundation of our product development is regular compost testing. We use this testing to monitor our process and the finished product. Our material is made from a fixed recipe involving a particular carbon to nitrogen ratio for the initial feedstocks so that we may be certain to achieve an optimum carbon to nitrogen ratio in the finished product.

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

If you need to visually inspect your Christmas lights to determine which are good and which need replacement, there are a few things to look for. First, look for discoloration, such as a dark spot or two on the inside of the glass. The spot is an indication of a burnt filament. Also, look for missing filaments, cracked bulb glass, and broken sockets.

It can be frustrating to see one half of your lights working while the other half is dark. Long strands of Christmas lights often contain more than one circuit. If half of your strand won’t light up, there’s likely a burned-out or loose bulb on that circuit in the strand. Check the strand and replace any loose or damaged bulbs.

Typically, the most expensive type of Christmas tree is either the Douglas fir or the fraser fir. That being said, lots of different factors can affect what you’ll pay for a Christmas tree including supply and demand, size of the tree, and more. Your best bet is to speak with a pro at your local Christmas tree farm to find the best tree for you.

There are many types of Christmas lights to choose from when working with a light installer. The main types available for outdoor lighting are dome, LED, incandescent, and C9, and your lighting professional’s choice will depend on the location and overall design.

C9 lighting is typically the most expensive option, ranging from $15 to $70 per 25-foot strand. These usually have fewer bulbs per strand, so you might need more than expected to cover a large area. Dome lighting is usually the most cost-effective option, ranging from $6 to $15 per 25-foot strand. These bulbs are smaller and rounder than other options, creating a softer look.

If you don’t have a ladder, you may be able to use a light-hanging pole. If not, you’ll have to rent a bucket lift or other machinery to reach your roof.
