"From the first contact with Gary Locatelli Smith I knew I was in the hands of a professional with a long history of great customer service and experience in the trade. He answered my email and phone call within two days, and set up an appointment to come to my home within a week. I showed him the fabric I had purchased and wanted to use and after he gave me a quote on the cost for two sofa slipcovers I readily agreed and he started cutting and measuring the slipcovers on the spot. I provided the material so I only paid for labor. He did a wonderful job on the slipcovers, which fit to perfection. I originally wanted a certain style of slipcover, but he made other recommendations based on the material that I provided and I am so happy I agreed to it. In addition to the two slipcovers he also upholstered a bench using beautiful nail heads and reupholstered a day bed. I was satisfied with the time it took and would use him again anytime! P.S. Nine years ago I paid double for 2 sofa slipcovers using another service, which is why I didn't use them again. Locatelli Smith Interiors had my business as soon as I met Gary and he gave me the quote. He stuck to the quote and did a great job! He knows what he is doing! "Affordable, prompt, professional. Carpet cleaning was quick, smelled great, made a big difference.
My only issue, which is at least 50% my responsibility, was that the chairs were so dirty (5+ years without a upholstery clean, that's my responsibility), that Sidney worked and scrubbed extra hard at my chairs to try to get them clean (kudos), but my chairs are antiques, and the upholstery is silk, so it honestly couldn't really handle the intensity of the scrubbing it got, along with the cleaning chemicals. The fabric was wrinkled, worn and threadbare, and the embroidery was basically destroyed.
At the end of the day, it didn't matter, because since they stains couldn't be removed, I would have had to re-upholster the chairs, but I was a little sad the quality of the fabric got destroyed in the process. I appreciate Sidney's effort to clean my chairs, but I wish there had been a bit more attention to the fact that the cleaning methods and chemicals would have been too much for the chairs and their material. I would have been more pleased to be told my chairs were beyond cleaning, or that silk is too delicate for the intense chemicals they use, and just refund the coupon I purchased.
