"Chuck was super helpful and very responsive. I asked him to inspect and clean my chimney. Once on the roof he saw a hole that a squirrel had dug through the roof into the attic. I couldn't believe the photos he showed. I didn't think it was possible. He ended up spending his whole day here getting the squirrel out, repairing the roof, and then finishing the job he came here to do. Very friendly, great customer service, quality work! I would definitely hire him again for any projects around the house I need help with."

"I heat my house with a wood stove and the coldest day in February, I saw my single wall pipe was rusty and sparks flying through these tiny holes. My previous chimney guy did not suggest double wall piping, I did not even know if was available. The owner ( I love supporting family owned businesses) Dan and his Dad showed up within hours. I was so grateful they showed up that day. They did a complete inspection to assure I was safe. They made recommendations on how to keep the stove safe, they ordered a stainless steel vent to prevent air going up the chimney. They put in a temporary steel pipe to get so I could light fires and ordered custom a duravent double wall piping. Ryan, what a great employee, really put me at ease. He showed a couple days later with custom parts He installed the stainless steel vent, and the double wall pipe. Before he left he started a fire so I felt safe. Both visits they rolled down a paper carpet they brought as to leave no trails, they even wore booties. I highly recommend Advanced Chimney. I am so glad to have found a chimney company I can trust. Thank you Dan, "Dad" and Ryan."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

If you’re asking yourself, should you pressure wash your roof, the answer almost always is no. The water pressure that the power washing machine generates could damage the shingles by forcing water underneath or causing them to loosen. Soft washing with a pump sprayer is the better and safer option.

The best time of year for roof cleaning depends on the climate in your area, but in most cases late spring or early summer are the best times. You should plan to clean your roof when it’s dry and not too hot or cold. It’s also a good idea to clean your roof in the late autumn to remove any built-up debris like leaves or branches. On the other hand, you shouldn’t clean your roof when it’s too cold, because you can cause ice buildup.

You can use a pressure washer to clean a whole host of surfaces. The exterior siding of your house is one of the most popular spots, as well as your driveway, garage floor, patio or deck, and even your outdoor furniture. Just be mindful about the amount of pressure you apply to different materials—concrete can handle a lot more than wood, for example.

Regular cleaning, promptly repairing minor issues, ensuring proper drainage, and using rust-resistant coatings help prevent recurring damage.

Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.
