"Valter and his team were excellent. They removed the old cement front steps and walkway. They worked diligently to prepare the area for the new walkway and steps. They were very professional and hard-working. They did not goof off. They did extra tasks that were not part of the contracted work. I am very happy with their work and would definitely hire them again."

"The job we hired Legacy Stoneworks for was for a commercial building in Grafton that has a lot of customers and foot traffic. I am the property manager and we like to keep the image of the property in mind for not only our customers but from a professional standpoint looking beautiful. Rodrigo did not waste time and came out on a Sunday to quote the job and I had an estimate a day later which was very reasonable. His crew was professional and attentive to my request regarding working hours and conditions. They did a fantastic job which turned out better than I imagined. Being a property manager I get at least 3 estimates from contractors, I do not go with the cheapest or the most expensive, I am looking for sincerity and professionalism. I found that and more with Rodrigo, I would highly recommend Rodrigo and Legacy Stoneworks for your home or business projects."

"AC Stoneworks were awesome! We had them build a paver patio for us. Their pricing is very reasonable and they were responsive, efficient, and friendly. They suggested some excellent ideas during the quoting phase, and were happy to make some adjustments during the work phase. Great to work with!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right paint color for your brick house can be a daunting task. A great strategy is to find painted brick houses that you like and try to replicate the look by researching their colors or asking the homeowners for the specific paint color code.

If you're looking for specific ideas, several colors work well on brick. Different shades of white, such as off-white or cream-white, can create a modern, timeless, and classic look that is unlikely to go out of style. For a more contemporary aesthetic, you might consider a matte black tone. Other popular choices include gray, blue, and sage green.

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.

Yes, but used or reclaimed bricks can be more brittle, cracked, or uneven than new bricks, so they’re harder to cut cleanly by hand. For that reason, you should take extra care when scoring and striking, and expect a higher chance of breakage. If a brick feels especially fragile, score deeper before attempting to split it.

You can use normal bricks as cladding for a concrete or clay pizza oven or as a base underneath one. Fire bricks or solid clay bricks are necessary for an outdoor pizza oven’s floor, and you can use clay bricks for the rest of the oven.

For most brick cleaning jobs, including fireplace bricks, use a masonry sponge and a gentle cleaner. A simple solution of equal parts water and vinegar, or a few drops of dish soap in a bowl of water, can effectively remove grime. For tougher stains, you can use a dedicated masonry or fireplace cleaner. It is crucial to wet the bricks thoroughly with water before applying any cleaning solution to prevent the brick from absorbing it, and to rinse the surface completely afterward. Harsher cleaners containing bleach or ammonia should only be used as a last resort, and they should never be mixed together.
