"This is the third project that EA Masonry has completed for us and as the other two projects went, this was top notch as expected. Dan and his guys demo’d a huge, old concrete patio and stairs along with clearing out numerous overgrown bushes. They installed a new patio and walkway along with two sets of entry stairs. The craftsmanship from EA Masonry is incredible and we recommend them to everyone we know who needs any type of masonry work done. You will not be disappointed."

"I recently had a new driveway paved at one of my rental units by Humberto and his team at HM PRO Landscaping, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Humberto was incredibly professional throughout the entire process, from providing a detailed quote to completing the project on time. Humberto was punctual, communicative, and kept me informed throughout the project. The paving work was worth every penny, and I’m confident it will last for years to come. I highly recommend this landscaper for any paving or patio needs. His work is truly exceptional, and his pricing is reasonable. Humberto is someone you can genuinely trust!!!"

"I was very pleased with the service and the outcome. The price was very reasonable. (Another company gave me an absurd price and said heâ d have to take the walls down and hire someone else to put them back.)"

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.

Mudjacking is suitable for sidewalks, driveways, patios, and nearly all exterior flat structures. However, it may not suit severely damaged or heavily cracked areas.

It’s best not to perform mudjacking in the winter unless the ground temperature remains above freezing. Freezing temperatures can cause the slurry to harden too quickly, compromising its strength and longevity. Concrete is also more susceptible to cracking and splitting in cold temperatures, so there’s a higher risk of damaging the slab during the drilling and lifting process in winter.

Most houses are expected to settle over time, but foundation sinking of more than a few inches or uneven sinking of more than an inch for every 20 feet is cause for concern. Any significant or uneven sinking should be assessed by a professional to determine the cause and perform any necessary repairs.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.
