"Radon is not something I knew much about, but after purchasing an AirThings air sensor and tracking the radon levels in my basement, I felt like this was causing some of my wife's breathing issues. I found two different companies on HomeAdvisor.com. Radon Systems LLC was a lot cheaper than the second company I met with. I spoke with Lori and she gave me a lot of great information about radon. She sent me an estimate very quickly and after making a decision to hire them, got me an appointment within a week. Nick came to do the work. He was very professional, wore a mask the whole time and did a very neat job. He cleaned up both inside and outside before he was done. I would highly recommend this company to my family, friends, and others looking for a radon mitigation system. Thanks Radon Systems LLC."

"Jon was very quick to respond to my messages and was able to fit me in to his busy schedule to come take a peek and evaluate the issues. Turns out there is no immediate problem and that no remediation was necessary. He recommended some good solutions for humidity for me to research further. Jon was very friendly and you could tell that he's a straight shooter. I would definitely look to hire him should I need his services in the future."

"I bought a radon meter a few months ago and notice that the radon level in basement is very high. It seems the original radon mitigation system is not working. I went through a few different radon companies in the last few months. The original radon company who was hired by the builder did not even bother to show up to take a look at the issue. Dennis from Boston radon is simply amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable about radon and even gave me a lot of good advices for other issues in the basement beyond radon. I just have him re-installed a brand new radon system and will test the radon level very soon. Overall, I am very satisfied by his service and I do not think you will go wrong to ask for his help for any radon related issues. He is the man!!!!"

"He changes out the salt and also does reverse osmosis for our ice maker because a lot of people are funny about well water, they won't drink it. So a lot of people prefer reverse osmosis to filter the water coming out of the ground. As a matter of fact I need to call him because of the salt. I've only been using him for a year and a half because somebody recommended him and he is really nice. It is just a mom and pop operation, country. He is overall just a good guy."

"It went fantastic. Scheduling wise the gentlemen at Rhino Radon were quick to respond to our inquiry via there website were I filled out a online questionnaire. Once speaking to Henry about the specifics of my home via phone and letting him no my situation. They were prompt in scheduling a date for installation to assure my radon problem didn't delay my ability to sell the home. From the time I filled out there questionnaire on there website till the system was installed and fully operational, all took place In one weeks time. I no from experience that these days the attentiveness and service Rhino Radon provided me can be difficult to find. Having recently just finished the process of building my own home in Malden and dealing with a wide range of company's and workers. It's the little things that stand out like personal treatment, responding quick to inquiries or concerns and of course taking the time to do things properly the first time around while still treating the home with respect. Rhino Radon came recommended to me via a friend and I couldn't thank them enough for steering me in the right direction for my radon mitigation needs. I would like to do the same to anyone currently searching for a radon company. If you want the job done right and a pleasant experience, look no further for your radon needs then Rhino Radon Services.

"

Dealing with Mike, and Christine, has been a very positive experience, from estimating through  to work completion. He patiently answered my questions.  Price was on the lower end of the 3 that I received. Two man crew performed the work under his general supervision. They worked diligently and quality of work was satisfactory.  Additionally, they were able to handle a last minute request, at a reasonable cost, for resetting a bluestone step.

April, 2015 Follow-up::After the rough winter, I noticed a couple of mortared joints that had settled and I was concerned about.  A day after contacting him, Mike appeared and personally reviewed and made some minor fixes to those spots.

I would definitely recommend Bay State Brick's services to others.

"Went well. Rated company a B on punctuality because they were approx 1/2 hr late. It did not inconvienece me howeve so I was not upset. They did call me approx 1/2hr before the end of the time range they estimated to be there for to let me know. They offered to reschedule me if it was going to cause me inconvienece. Also rated them a B on price just because it was the second time using them and I felt the price for the services rendered was more than it had been originally. Unfortunately I did not have my receipt anymore and could not remember exactly what I paid previously Also i never asked them what the price would be since it was the second time using them w/in a year (which is my fault). All in all, I was happy with the company and the results. I will very likely use them again, I'll just be sure to secure a price ahead of time. The were very pleasant and easy to do business with."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon detection is crucial as prolonged exposure to radon gas, a leading cause of lung cancer, poses significant health risks in residential environments.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the system and property layout.

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

A homeowner can install a radon mitigation system on their own. But it’s a challenging DIY that requires a lot of knowledge about radon mitigation as well as familiarity with local regulations. You do not want to risk an improper installation that leaves the system unable to detect radon or gives it a shortened life span. Relying on a professional is the surest way to guarantee a successful installation.
