"Had a wall put in, old driveway ripped out and a new driveway put in. Previous driveway was very steep slope so cars couldnâ t get in. They leveled the slope and put in a new driveway for a great price"

"Excellent all around. High-quality work at very competitive price. Our long loop driveway, parts of which originally dated back to the 1940s, had several layers of cracked and slumping asphalt and a lot of boulders in the packing beneath. It was a big, expensive job to pull it all out, regrade, and repave. I went with BK over the other three estimates I received partly on price, but also because Brian impressed me when he came out to size up the job, and spent more than half an hour explaining the options and answering my questions. He responded quickly to calls and texts and was able to start work within a week. Entire crew was friendly, hard-working, and had no problem with me hanging around and asking questions. I'd hire them again without hestitation."

"M&L did a great job with my yard. We had uncontrollable weeds and these men came by within days of my request. I am very pleased with the work they did. They even cleaned up the driveway and I didn’t even think to have work done on it. Will definitely hire again and recommend"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.
