The business owner came to the job site to give me an estimate. He explained in details on how the project will be completed from the beginning to the end. Crew members performed works the way I wanted. The outcome looked impressive.

They recently replaced my driveway

Please do not use this company. I have never been so disappointed that I have taken the time to write a negative review. The driveway is improperly graded causing water to flood into our garage every time it rains. There is also a lip going down the entire length of the driveway so it looks like we have two separate driveways at different levels. We contacted the owner of Asphalt Division and he said he’d repair it but then never showed up and stopped taking our calls. After waiting 3 months we filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. He responded that he won’t be fixing anything because he never guaranteed his work and we have no written warranty. We have a signed contract that clearly states all work is fully guaranteed for 12 months. So he blatantly lied in his response to the BBB. His work was poor quality and he doesn’t stand behind it. He charged us $20,000 for this driveway. Do yourself a favor and don’t put yourself through what we’re still going through. The pics below are of our driveway which was done in March of 2023. It’s less than a year old. You can see the incorrect grade and the lip in the middle where he didn’t properly steamroll it so my driveway has two different levels/ layers. It’s just completely unacceptable to do such poor quality work and refuse to make it right.

Asphalt Division did an amazing job at an amazing price and finished my (fairly long) driveway (including an area for a car turnaround) on time and ahead of schedule. The good experience started when my call was returned immediately, something that is rare these days where you are lucky if people return your messages at all. Next, John was able to quickly give me an accurate and fair estimate of the project price (using Google Street View) within a few minutes. Once the team was on site, they listened to my needs, and then executed them during the paving process. They were quick, professional, and cleaned up the surrounding area after they were done. I'm extremely happy with the results and highly recommend them to anyone for paving in Middlesex County and surrounding areas in Massachusetts.

The paving went very well. John was very involved with his workers. He did a lot of the work with the workers. The driveway is very even and smooth and clean looking.

About 2 weeks ago I left a message asking if they would like to give an estimate on the project, no one ever returned the phone call. Today I went through Angie's list to contact them again and it said "the mailbox is full" not allowing me to leave a message. Guess they're out of business or just completely unprofessional.

Start to finish it went very well. Jon O'Connor was easy to work with, made good suggestions on how to improve the property and came up with a really fair price. Additionally, he guaranteed the work would be completed in 3 days start to finish. His crew arrived promptly and did an excellent job. We had our front porch and landing area re-done with pavers, the driveway lined with pavers and new asphalt put down. What a different! We are very happy with the result, and would hire John again.

Not well. I will start by saying that the only part of their work that I am dissatisfied with is the driveway itself which is the lion's share of the overall expense. The pavers and paver patio are fine (except that one paver is already cracked), and the stucco on the foundation is ok. The driveway itself looks good, UNTIL IT RAINS or SNOWS, then have a fairly large area that does not drain and a number of smaller areas that eventually drain but of course, in the winter time, the cold freezes those areas before they have time to drain. Whenever it has snowed, I have to sweep the water off my driveway after I have shoveled and before it freezes because water still remains from the melting snow. If not, I have an ice rink for a driveway. In fairness, the day they poured the driveway, John told me about the main area where the water would collect and apologized. Ok, so now what? The pavers were in, the driveway was poured and completed. What are my options? None were offered except a partial refund of $1500. The way I saw it, I had two options; have a driveway with an area where water was going to puddle and no refund or a driveway with an area where water was going to puddle and $1500 more in my pocket. I would have preferred to have had a driveway that drained as I was repeatedly promised over and over again, but that was not an option at this point. I accepted the $1500 but was not happy about it. This company offers a 1 year guarantee so I waited till the spring to contact John again since I wanted to see how bad the water freezing would be during the cold of the winter. (The work had been completed in the fall of 2015.) When I called, John demanded to know why I waited till now to call him, which I explained as I did above. But I had a one year guarantee so what difference did it make anyway? I told him about the puddling and the freezing and he asked me if you could “put a goldfish in the puddles”. Not funny, never mind unprofessional and flippant. He continued with “What would you like me to do, Madam? Would you like me to tear your whole driveway up, including the pavers and do it all over again?” He clearly was annoyed and disrespectful to me. I told him that he was the asphalt guy and I didn’t know what he needed to do, but he should know. This young man is in his early to mid- twenties and is very sure of himself. He boasted from the onset that he had no complaints at all, ever, and went on to bad mouth every other asphalt guy around. He had had an ongoing argument with the GC I had working at my house at the time because my contractor told him there was not enough pitch to the driveway and the water was not going to drain off. John INSISTED that HE was the professional and that it would definitely run off. Well, it didn’t run off. John then came to my house after our phone conversation and hosed down my driveway with water from my garden hose and said if it drained (or evaporated) within one hour he was going to do nothing. Now when one hoses down a driveway, it doesn’t necessarily duplicate the amount of water that accumulates after a substantial downpour. But we waited and within just about an hour most of the puddled water had drained/dried up. That means nothing to me. I am still left with a driveway that has a substantial amount of water accumulate in it each time we get a heavy downpour. He told me that the only way to fix that would be to tear up the whole driveway and do the whole thing over. He clearly wasn’t going to do that. Understandably, I am very dissatisfied and don’t feel I have any recourse other than to report the event here and admonish anyone who is considering using NY Paving and Masonry to double and triple think their decision. John can be a very charming, nice young man with his Irish brogue but he can also be a rude and disrespectful young man as I have described here and clearly he is NOT the knowledgeable professional he claims to be. If he were, I wouldn't be writing this review. The estimate for the work was $7100, minus the $1500, I paid $5600 for the work performed.
