"Bob was able to repair the 3 doors in my home that were not closing correctly. Additionally he had time after the initial repair and was able to fix a few other doors that were also giving me some problems. You can tell by the quality of his work that he is very skilled and experienced."

"Mack from Alton Barnes called me back quickly from the VM I had left, and met me at the property shortly after. I had deck and porch damage from a big tree that came down and glanced the side of the house after a bad wind storm we had. Upper deck was unstable. Repairs needed to be done ASAP. Mack was on it right away. His communication thru out the job was outstanding, sending me pictures of his progress along the way. He finished quickly as well. No waiting or wondering if he was going to show up. Property was cleaned up after the job as well. I couldn't be happier with his work. Mack is honest, gives great money saving suggestions and quickly follows thru! I'm already planning to hire him again for another few jobs I have in mind."

Customers say: True professional

"Our awning window wouldn?t close because the original screws had broken off the hinge, and we needed it fixed ASAP. He came the very next day, right on time, and immediately identified the issue. His expertise was evident - he knew exactly how to fix it and even worked around the missing screws to ensure a secure repair. What really stood out was his professionalism and consideration. Instead of making a mess indoors, he went outside to drill new holes in the rail, keeping everything clean. He thoroughly tested the window after the repair, making sure it worked perfectly before leaving. On top of that, his pricing was very fair - no overcharging, just honest and skilled work. Communication was smooth, he was easy to work with, and overall, this was a fantastic experience. He truly saved the day! I?ll definitely use his services again and highly recommend him to anyone in need of window repairs."

"This was a window repair job. Yuriy made repairs on 11 windows as needed. After being told by other contractors that my windows could not be repaired and that parts could not be found to repair them, I was very grateful to find someone who could fix them! Yuriy arrived on time, was professional and cleaned up properly after himself. The price was quite fair and I am very pleased to have my window functioning and keeping out the cold air. Yay! I highly recommend this company!"

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

Doors don’t have a lot of moving parts, but they do sustain quite a bit of use and are exposed to harsh weather conditions, depending on where you live. Some common door repairs you might experience include:

  • Dents, dings, and holes

  • Sticking doors

  • Broken door frames

  • Broken or loose hardware

If you don’t know which door sweep to buy, look into getting a strip or bristle sweep. They’re easy to find at the store, work well for most doors, and the simple installation is DIYable. Before buying one, measure your door width and make sure the one you want is long enough. Most door sweeps are 36 inches long, and you can cut them down to size with a hacksaw.

If you recently tightened screws to fix a loose doorknob, the issue is likely that you over tightened them. Doing so binds the turning mechanism, which will prevent your doorknob from bouncing back when you turn and release it. To fix this problem, loosen the mounting screws just a little so that the knob bounces back as expected but doesn’t wiggle. If this doesn’t fix the issue, try loosening the knob, centering it in the boring hole, and then tightening it.

You can fix a door frame without replacing the whole door by repairing the impacted areas with wood filler, patching, or replacing components. You’ll need to uninstall your door to repair the frame and then reinstall it once you’ve completed the repair. However, if your door frame has severe structural damage, it might be more economical and safe to replace the entire door.

First, check to make sure the doorstop isn’t blocking the door. To close the door, slide the doorstop as close to the hinge side of the rod as possible. If that doesn’t work, try moving the door bracket closer to the other side. Some brackets will have extra holes for this purpose, meaning you can slide the bracket over and reattach it without drilling new holes into the door. If you’re still having trouble, you may want to consult a local storm door installer.
