"Extremely well. Great communication on scheduling and keeping appointment. They did an excellent job of moving equipment in and out. The basement which is not an easy space to move round in was left spotless. All materials promised had been removed. The team at the house was polite and unobtrusive. Very professional. I recommended them to my neighbor and would use them again."

The terrific asbestos removal job was done, my place is left been very clean. The most important for me was a direct and clear communication with Kevin from the first phone conversation, during the project and after it was finished. He is a very knowledgeable specialist and the nicest person. Kevin went above and beyond making me been comfortable and absolutely worry free. Would like also mention that I appreciate how detailed were Kevin and Sorany with all documentation I was getting from them via emails. Thank you so much, Kevin and Sorany! "Let me tell you what a knowledgable kind rofessional individual. He came out to look at our flooring and told us his opinion and also offered us info on where to get a company to come out for a testing. He was so efficient and came out the next day and he didnt even charge us and spent at least a half an hour looking at our flooring and telling us about asbestos. He has been in the business for over 15 years and it's quite obvious. I would recommend him 1000 times over. Thanks again for your great customer service. Diana and Jim"

"Nobody wants to find asbestos in their house - it's one of those unexpected surprises that costs you extra money during an already expensive renovation process. Affordable Environmental lived up to their name and made the process as painless as possible. We hired Brady and his team to remove 7 layers of flooring in our kitchen - 3 of them had asbestos. Brady was quick to respond and honest in his assessment of the problem, as well as our options for removal. He showed up when he said he would be there throughout the entire process and kept us in the loop when delays happened. The job ended up being a much bigger project than any of us expected. Brady handled himself professionally and took extra time/resources to get the job done right without slamming us with additional charges. The guys cleaned up after themselves and Brady followed up with us to make sure we were happy with how everything turned out. All in all, a great experience with a top notch company. Fingers crossed that we won't find any other surprises. But, if we do, I'll be calling Brady."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

If you know your popcorn ceiling has asbestos, you should not attempt to clean it. It simply is not possible to learn how to clean asbestos safely without potentially releasing microscopic fibers into the air that could lead to severe illness in the future. Avoid disturbing or cleaning the ceiling until the asbestos removal company can get rid of the popcorn ceiling.

While there are some sealants designed to be spray-painted over asbestos to encapsulate it, you still want to make sure it’s a specifically designed product for this purpose—not just run-of-the-mill spray paint. Furthermore, be sure you aren’t inadvertently spraying the asbestos fibers around when you take on this project, and as always, be sure to wear the proper protective gear, including a P-100-rated respirator and a disposable body suit, so as not to inadvertently breathe in or spread asbestos fibers.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.

It is possible to repair an asbestos roof if the damage is minor. However, it is crucial to follow proper safety procedures and regulations while doing so. It’s always recommended to hire a professional asbestos roofing contractor who specializes in asbestos roof repairs to ensure the work is done safely and correctly.
