"Installation went very well. The tech was knowledgeable and professional. Problem was when I received my cc bill. I was billed the $129 Angie's List fee which was to include TV wall mount (mount not include), connect all necessary video and basic audio, neatly dress wires, configure peripheral devices, and conceal in-wall wires. And I was billed $140.49 from HELLOTECH. I'm still trying to get the $140.49 charge reversed."

"After a horrible experience with another electrician, I found Local Electrical Services. I chose them because they were referred to me by a friend who was also very satisfied. I own an old home and among the myriad of things we needed to do home fix-up wise was upgrade the electrical service. Our home had fuses instead of circuit breakers which meant it wasn't exactly up to code. Not to mention it wasn't capable of running multiple appliances at once. After beginning the process of upgrading with an electrician who was working side projects like mine, I quickly found that I made a bad choice. It turned what should have been a one-day project into weeks of unreturned phone calls and bad excuses. I finally decided to hire someone else and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the rest of the job went. In one day our service was completed and everything works great. I am not going to pretend I know what technically needs to be done to upgrade a service but I do know the difference between good service and bad. If you want returned phone calls, timely service and a fair price, I highly recommend you call Rick Melino at Local Electrical Services."

Tv Antenna Installation questions, answered by experts

The shorter the coaxial cable, the better. The further you run the cable, the more signal loss you'll experience. At 50 feet, you'll see significant signal loss, and by 100 feet, you'll experience at least a 30% drop in signal strength.

Signal loss, loose mounts, cable damage, and weather-related wear often require repair.

There aren’t any guarantees that the TV antenna you purchase and install will provide perfect reception. Much depends on your distance from broadcasting towers, any nearby obstructions, and typical weather. However, doing some research minimizes the risk of disappointment.

You can speak to neighbors to understand their setup. Various online tools allow you to check how far you are from TV transmitters in your area. The Federal Communications Commission, for example, has a tool enabling you to check local Digital TV channel reception.

Selecting the right type of antenna for your situation and having it properly positioned and installed will also increase the chances of better reception.

DIY is possible for minor adjustments, but professionals ensure proper alignment and signal strength.

Before your TV antenna stops working, there are a few ways to tell it’s starting to break. Some common signs that your antenna needs repair include:

  • A repetitive “no signal” issue

  • A redundant “searching” issue

  • Increased signal issues during a cloudy or rainy day

  • A sudden drop in signal strength, regardless of the weather

If you’re experiencing these problems, you’ll want to ensure that your cables are still in good shape and have not deteriorated. In addition, check to make sure that your cables are firmly in place at the wall outlet. Finally, check the position of your antenna to ensure there are no obstructions in its path. If you’ve checked your antenna thoroughly and are still having these problems, a repair is most likely needed by an antenna technician.
