"I tried Sod for my yard twice but my German Shepard killed it. I figured I give this a try and it has been two weeks so far and I feel it is one of the best things I have done. Yard looks great and the crew that put it in did an awesome job. They did a lot of work to level out the yard and to secure the turf down. Anyone is welcome to come and check this out in Lowell Ma. "We just can't say enough about how pleased and impressed we are with our landscape project. We were able to work directly with André the owner, who listened very closely to what we had in mind and help us with some final decisions. Since our project had many different jobs he explained step by step every single one of them and gave us options. Amazonia Landscape team is extremely knowledgeable, professional, kind and dedicated from beginning to end. We will definitely be using them again for all our future projects! Thanks again for all your hard work!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"When Edmar Ferreira came to discuss building two fieldstone retaining walls and repair some steps, he was punctual and listened to our ideas. He promptly submitted a detailed contract, and the work began. Edmar is a conscientious man with a very strong work ethic. He was open to suggestions and did his best to accommodate our wishes while paying attention to details and the quality of his work. Edmar was respectful not only of our property, cleaning up each day, but also respectful of our time. The work was completed on time, and we are very happy with it. We would definitely hire Edmar again. He is one of the finest and hardest-working men we've met. It has been a pleasure knowing him. Mark B. Sudbury"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

Yes, such as sod installation and erosion control for comprehensive site improvement.

It’s usually best to buy plants from a local greenhouse or nursery yourself, but landscapers are also a reliable option. First, you can choose exactly what plants you want based on their appearance rather than relying on your landscaper to choose. Additionally, while it’s more time-consuming to go buy the plants yourself, you’ll often save money because landscapers charge for delivery and may upcharge the plants. You can also speak to a professional at a nursery to ensure you understand how to care for your plants and get the most long-term value.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.

Consulting your local university extension, Audubon society, or municipal urban forestry program are all good ideas when choosing a tree to plant. You can also ask an arborist or a knowledgeable landscaping company for advice on good trees to plant.
