"Rich is reliable and reasonable! He came on time. He was clean and neat. But, most of all, he not only fixed our original problem, but fixed two other drain problems. He is a "treasure" find."

"Derek contacted me almost immediately, quickly worked out with my tenants (it was their bathroom sink drain) when he could come and do the work, and was finished in short order My tenants (four young women) raved about him and his work afterward. "I can't say enough positive things about the service Paul provided. He was the first one to respond to my request and was accommodating in scheduling a date and time to take care of the problem. He contacted me prior to the scheduled time to let me know he had an emergency call and would be late and said he would contact me when he was on his way. He did and arrived within an hour of the scheduled time. Great communication. Once on sight, he put drop cloths down to cover my wood floors, inspected the area and determined where the clog was. All toll, he was here for about an hour and my waste water is now flowing out to the sewer as it is supposed to. When the job was done the area was left clean. Paul and his apprentice were very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Paul did what he was hired to do, which he did very well, and his costs didn't break the bank. I won't hesitate to call them again should the need arise. I would highly recommend Ace Electric Sewer Service if you should have a similar problem. A++++++++"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, sewage smells can originate from a floor drain. If the P-Trap in the floor drain dries out or if there's a clog or other issue in the plumbing system, sewer gasses can escape through the drain, causing nasty odors. Regularly pouring water into the drain helps maintain the water seal and prevent those smells, but if the smell persists, you should have a plumbing professional inspect the drain for potential problems.

Water leaking through your basement floor is a good sign of a clogged drain, but another sign of a clogged basement floor drain can include unpleasant odors coming from the drain. Also, hearing gurgling noises when water drains from the basement or having other plumbing fixtures (like toilets or other drains) backing up is a good indicator.

Schedule regular inspections, fix minor issues promptly, and ensure proper drainage.

Thankfully, it’s pretty rare to find a rat in your toilet. It’s more likely in larger cities with big sewer systems that can be feeding grounds for rats, but even then, you still shouldn’t fret.

“I wouldn’t worry too much about rats coming up through the sewers,” Bradshaw says. “I’d say only one out of a thousand rodent customers we get actually have this problem. And of the 20 or some customers that have had this happen, they’ve all only had just one rat come up this way.”

Main sewer lines can clog for several reasons. For example, if you regularly dump oil or grease down your drain, it could eventually block your line. Sometimes, tree roots can penetrate and grow inside old sewer pipes, creating a major blockage. Flushing bulky items (like paper towels, diapers, or baby wipes) can also clog your plumbing system.
