"Great, Nick is an expert carpenter with extreme precision and detail oriented. He always responses timely to quotes, questions and appointments on site. Nick also takes time to understand what you are looking for, makes suggestions on the job, and always points out when there are certain aspects of your request that may not be cost efficient (like perfectly good wood that really doesn’t have to be replaced.),"

"They are great to work with. It was one stop shopping. They did the cabinets, installed the flooring and painted. They even had their electrician and plumber available to do work! I highly recommend them!"

Customers say: Quality work

"We had Mike and Crew from Cape Painters come and paint living room walls with two colors, paint our old wood kitchen cabinet's, white wash our dining room, hall way and kitchen dark wood paneling, remove and repaint ceiling in kitchen and upstairs bathroom And paint upstairs bathroom and all baseboard heaters. It looks exactly how my husband and I wanted it to look. We had a vision of what we wanted and Mike and his crew accomplished that in a timely manner. They were easy to work with and polite and listened to all my stupid questions. Will definitely be hiring them for future projects."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

Floor joists provide support and stability to the flooring installed above them, whether it be hardwood, tile, or carpet. They’re essentially horizontal beams that hold up the subfloor and everything that lies on top of it. Floor joists also help evenly distribute weight across their structure so that it’s shared between walls, beams, and your foundation.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
