The final step on our $50k kitchen remodel was to install a subway tile backsplash and a mosaic above our new 36" capital range. We contracted with Ideal floor to do this work.this was June of 2014. The first visit the tile installer arrived and set immediately to work. They installed the tile they had, which was roughly 5sq ft short of what they needed. reordered more tile and said they would be back the following week. The following week they came and set the remaining subway tile and began the wall mosaic. They covered the floors with blankets. The installer laid out a square 2'x2'...I was present to catch this, pointing out that we had designed a 2'x3' rectangle to match the stove. The installer reported that he installed the product he was given and had no drawings or plans(he didn't seem to question why he had 2sqft of extra stone and border). This was corrected and he set the river rock in the mosaic. I returned from yard work to discover gray grout from the field of subway tiles being installed in the stone mosaic instead of the tan grout which matched the mosaic border and the stone. it looked terrible, dark gray grout with tan stone. The installer apologized and immediately started picking out the gray grout. I left to pick up a 10yr old mentee I had from the big brothers-big sisters organization. During this trip I called the company and told them to have someone come out and supervise this work because it was not going well. I returned home to find the mosaic almost complete with the sand colored grout. It looked fine but the area was covered with gray grout. The stove had been covered with a blanket, but now the new oak floors were covered with grout and scratched. there was grout ground into the floor where the wheels of the stove had rolled over it. I asked the installer to leave. I told him I would clean up, but that he had to go.He immediately started washing the floor in front of the stove. he climbed up on the counter and attempted to clean down behind the stove(?) I again told him to leave. He cleaned down the hallway and came back to remove the blanket from the stove. I walked over to look at the area and the stove door is pulled off the front of the stove and hanging by one hinge. On the door handle was the paper sign from the factory "do not lift by handle" which is exactly what he had done. He had lifted the stove to slide it out, and dimpled the area where the door handle attaches to the door. He had then covered the stove with the blanket from the floor in an attempt to conceal the damage until they left. I immediately called the installer in to look "you pulled the door off of the stove". He looked at me and said "you're a f-ing liar! YOU DID THAT, YOU TRY TO BLAME ME YOU F-ING LIAR(he is not using "f-ing"). He stood in my house swearing at me, threatening me, he told me NOT to take a picture of my own stove "don't you take a f****** picture of that!" I threatened to call the police. "f*ck you f*ck the police, you a f*cking liar" I asked him repeatedly to not swear in front of a 10 year old by standing in the kitchen. I called Ideal floor and they were horrified. The installer was walking around outside my house refusing to leave. They offered to send somebody out to look. By the end of the day the grout in between the river rock began to crack and there were large bubbles,dimples where air had escaped the grout. with gaps as large as 3/4 in, the unsanded grout they had used (specifically for small joints) was not correct!. The owner of the company Mark Woods came out and assured us "we will make this right" he assured us the grout was appropriate and that a touchup would fix it. Two weeks later another installer arrived and he reset some tiles and added another layer of grout. This grout cracked before he even left the property. To reset the tiles he had removed the light rail from the cabinets by running a saw up the corner joint, when he reinstalled these there was a >1/16" gap in the miter. My wife immediately sent photos of the work and asked mr woods to return to review the work.We never heard from mark woods again, this was the first week in july of 2014. Repeated calls to Ideal Floor went unanswered. Messages and emails were not returned. We had damage to a $6k stove, the stone mosaic behind the stove had to be repaired, the floor in front of the stove had to be refinished. We tried repeatedly to contact Mr woods and ideal floor. Finally I consulted an attorney who advised sending Ideal a demand letter for over $8k in damages. We were told not to fix the stove or the tile work until the court action was settled. The insurance company for the tile subcontractor offered a settlement, on the stove door and the floor repairs. Mr woods NEVER addressed the claim to repair the stone mosaic. We were without a stove from late june until October, finally we had to simply surrender and pay yet another contractor to remove the stone mosaic, repair the wall, reinstall backerboard, reinstall tile and stone mosaic as well as re-cut and re-install the light rail to the bottom of the cabinets. Ideal floor hires, cheap, unprofessional and completely unskilled contractors from 30 miles away. The "gentleman" swore at me in front of a 10 year old, threatened me in my own home. (subsequently I was told that I could I could not mentor this 10yr old child any more, he has told his mother about the almost violent confrontation and verbal altercation in our home). Idea Floor won't use local labor because quality costs more. When there IS a problem, Ideal Floor does NOTHING to address it other than to slap a little more of the same crappy grout on the problem. At no time did they ever offer to actually FIX the problem they had created. I contacted no less than SIX tile contractors and EVERY ONE of them told me that the grout they used should NEVER be used in large gaps like that! My lawyer eventually told me to get on with my life, that legal action against "a******s like this" take far more months and resources than they're worth."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/hyannis/ideal-floor-covering--hyannis--falmouth-reviews-490948.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Emerald City LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"John M."},"reviewBody":"We found Emerald City through Angie's list. I started by talking with Shayna in the office and scheduled the no charge estimate. They came out right away and Shayna gave us a estimate immediately thereafter. She responded quickly and professionally through the phone and email. The price was very good and we decided to go and pick out a stone at their store in Plymouth that weekend. We then met with John and he went over the process and explained everything to us. He told us he could schedule the job within a week or so and could make the process easy and even have his plumber show up right after he finished the job to hook up the new faucet and drain. The job was scheduled within a few days and about a week later Emerald City showed up on time as promised. I was especially impressed with the fact that they called the day before and on their way to our house to let us know they were coming. There were 3 workers that showed up to do the work. Everyone was very professional, they gave our dog lots of attention and you could tell they are nice people who care about their work. Within a few hours the job was completed. They kept the work area clean and took away our old counter top and sink. They cleaned up everything and made sure we were satisfied with the job. In summary from beginning to end this was a great experience. They made it easy and stress free. We are going to enjoy our new granite counters for years to come. We would highly recommend Emerald City to anyone. We are looking to have more work done with them on our bathrooms. The system failed the Title 5 inspection and we could not close on the home until the work was completed. From the very first call the office administrators made me feel comfortable with their knowledge and confidence that they would be able to deliver a quality system within the financial and time constraints. Falmouth Engineering designed the new system to upgrade the current 5 bedroom failed system to add a leach field for 6 bedrooms. I asked 6 different septic system installers to bid the job based upon the engineering plan. Only 3 companies were able to meet the unreasonable 12 hour bid deadline. A&K Septic provided a complete bid and did not exclude important items like the other vendors. For example, they said that they would work around the utility lines rather than the other vendors bids that placed the risk on us. Even though the A&K bid was significantly higher than the low bidder, their bid included everything. As soon as I awarded the bid to A&K, they went to work immediately, contacting Dig Safe and going to Town Hall to take out a permit on the job. As soon as Dig Safe had reported the utility locations A&K went to work immediately. They excavated right next to multiple stone walls without disturbing the walls. They removed and re-planted several large bushes. They completed the job within the 3 days they had estimated up front. The Town immediately issued a Certificate of Compliance. A&K did excellent work, under budget and on time. It is such a pleasure working with people who do exactly what they say they will do, unfortunately it is rare these days, which is why I'm taking the time to write this."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/east-falmouth/a-and-k-septic-systems-plus-reviews-6032624.htm"},"position":10}]}

"M&L Landscaping Construction is absolutely incredible! You will not regret hiring Leo and his team for your project. I first hired Leo for one job, and after seeing the quality, precision, and care in his work, I immediately brought him back for a second. The first project included pavers, a retaining wall with built-in seating, a garden bed, patio/paver installation, fence installation, and a composite deck with stairs. The second project was for my rental property and involved an insurance claim to repair the facade of the house. That work included installing stone veneers on the front of my home, constructing a new deck with a roof, building a stone wall with fencing, and completing a blacktop driveway. What truly sets M&L apart is not just the beauty and craftsmanship of their work, but the professionalism, organization, and integrity behind it. Leo’s team is respectful of your property, punctual, and incredibly hardworking. They take pride in what they do and it shows in every detail—from layout precision to cleanup after completion. Equally impressive is how Leo manages the business side of things. He’s communicative, transparent, and extremely reliable—qualities that are rare to find in the contracting world. He provides clear timelines, fair pricing, and proactive updates, so you always know where things stand. Having worked with many contractors over the years, I can confidently say that M&L Landscaping Construction is top-notch from start to finish. I was so impressed that I even referred my parents for their driveway paver installation—and, just as expected, it came out beautiful. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, skilled, and professional landscaping and construction team, hire M&L Landscaping Construction. You’ll be glad you did!"

"You can't get better than Wally in terms of quality, professionalism, and consistency. He removed all the sand in our yard, filled it with loam, spread seed, and built a brand new stone patio. He took the time to explain everything to us and ways to improve the project, but NOT for the cost. He helped us save money every step of the way. For example, he showed us where water was pooling and how it needed to be diverted away from the patio, which he did for no extra cost! He showed up every day, all day, until the tasks were done and beyond perfect. You can’t believe the time, effort, and care he puts into these projects. He genuinely cared that we were happy and cares about his reputation. This care is evident in the quality of his completed projects. He’s also just super nice and a pleasure to work with!"

FAQs for stone and gravel service projects in Buzzards Bay, MA
The average cost of a gravel driveway is about $1.25 to $2 per square foot, including the cost of materials, equipment, and professional installation. For example, a 16-by-30-foot driveway costs about $1,500. Cost factors include the type of gravel, how thick the gravel is installed, the condition of the landscape, and labor costs. Overall costs will vary depending on where you live and how accessible the job site is.
Because gravel moves, it requires different maintenance than asphalt or concrete. Here are a few maintenance tips for your gravel driveway. Every few years (or as often as needed):
A gravel driveway should last for up to 100 years with proper upkeep, which is minimal. Maintaining a gravel driveway includes grading and adding fresh gravel to fill in potholes. Otherwise, a gravel driveway holds up well to all kinds of weather. Plowing in the winter can be challenging and the gravel can develop ruts or potholes that need to be repaired, but the cost and longevity of gravel compared to concrete, asphalt, and pavers makes gravel an economical option, especially for long and/or wide driveways.
A gravel driveway should be at least 4 to 6 inches deep, depending on the soil it’s installed on. Softer soil that doesn’t drain well should have a deeper gravel driveway. Deeper gravel will mean you spend more on materials and labor, but you’ll get a more stable driveway and avoid damage that needs to be filled or graded flat again.
