"Ron and Corey were incredible to work with. I had an urgent issue involving the electricity to a water heater in one of my rental properties. They were extremely responsive, accommodating, and respectful of my tenants. They appreciated the urgency of my situation and went above and beyond to resolve my issue. I would absolutely recommend them and will be saving their contact information for future jobs."

Customers say: True professional

"Scott did an excellent job for us. We needed an EV charger installed and a few other things done. He came by, sized up the job and gave us an estimate. In a few days he showed up ready work. He installed the EV charger, re[laced 4 thrmostats, and fixed a doorbell. All went well. His price was reasonable. He worked quickly and efficiently and got everytjing right the first time. I highly recommenr Moses Electric and would glady hire Scott for future electrical jobs."

"Jonathan was very patient, provided excellent service and did an exceptional job with our electrical upgrades and our entire home rewire (as it initially had Knob and Tube wiring). I'll be using him again and have referred him to other friends for their electrical needs."

"Chris installed the electrical wiring in the basement to support a water treatment system installation. He communicated with the technician and resolved any issues in expectation to make sure the electrical work would address system installation needs."

"I spoke to Eric yesterday for some electrical issues Iâ m having with power outage at sockets. Eric came tested, identified issue and fixed it. He also helped me with couple of other electrical things which I didnâ t mention initially and charged for everything very reasonably. I would always use him from now on for any issues."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Generally, you’ll want to keep between 60 and 70 feet between the generator and the transfer switch. There are a few reasons for this, including:

  • The distance reduces the noise coming from the generator into your home.

  • It increases efficiency because you won’t have a voltage drop from this short of a distance.

  • Prevents carbon monoxide poisoning: keep at least 15 feet between your generator and an open window.

String lights require electricity, but not an excessive amount, especially when compared to other lighting fixtures. LED rope lights, for instance, consume around one watt per foot. Running six or seven light strings simultaneously should only cost you around $10 to $15 each month. You can save even more money by remembering to turn off your lights during daylight hours.

The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If that fails, it’s possible to tell 15-amp and 20-amp outlets apart by looking at them. Fifteen-amp outlets have two vertical holes, while 20-amp outlets have one vertical hole and one T-shaped hole.

You can make a pigtail with either thermoplastic high-heat-resistant nylon-coated (THHN) wire or non-metallic (NM) cable, often referred to as “Romex.” Each pigtail requires a neutral wire, a ground wire, and a live wire. The gauge of your pigtail wires must match the gauge of those on the device.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.
