"Top notch. Paul did a great job installing an EV charger in my garage. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He provided me a competitive estimate for the job but I was amazed when he actually charged me less because he said it took him less time then he had originally planned to complete the work. I highly recommend Paul"

"During the walkthrough John was easy to chat with on what we were looking for in this project. We were looking to get some ethernet drops installed so that a new hardwired ethernet and wireless network could be installed by North Shore IT ([*** Link removed ***] Once we agreed to the project, Bill and Nico were easy to work with and were very expedient. They completed the job over a day and a half and did a great job at minimizing the impact to the walls and floors. I would definitely recommend JP McCurdy electrical services to others and would use them again!"

"We were having a problem with our boiler. We needed quickly to eliminate grounding as a problem. We called Upwire and James had hid crew here on the next day! They did an extensive job and proved that our house and boiler were grounded. The crew were professional and we highly recommend Upwire for any electric problem."

"Eric installed EV charger outlet (14/50 NEMA) and a hardwired EV charger (Tesla Wall connector) in two homes. He did a great job, was professional, and reasonably priced, I will continue working with him in the future and would recommend him!"

"Louf electric did an amazing job on my kitchen lighting for my kitchen Reno. Rufus and Gordon were there doing amazing work, adding outlets, recessed lighting, a beautiful new ceiling fan, hiding wires for our newly mounted TV and did a full electrical upgrade on our box from 100 to 200 amps. Everything was clean, done on time and with great precision. I would recommend Rufus and Louf Electric to anyone. Infact, I already have sent many people to him. The next time I need any work done I’ll be having the folks at Louf Electric over."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.
