"I hired Jeff to take out my old, leaky, fiber glass shower and install a new tile and glass enclosure. Jeff was very responsive, reliable and always available for questions. He coordinated the contractors including plumbers, tilers and glass installers and kept the work moving forward. The work was professional and very well executed. His pricing was very fair with no surprises. I absolutely love my new shower."

"Very happy with our kitchen backsplash install! When I first inquired, Rich came out same day to check out the space and take measurements. He was timely, did great work, and I plan on hiring him to do some bathroom floor tile next!"

"I recently got my bathroom floor tiles changed with Flavius. He did a wonderful job! Took his time to properly install the flooring and even fixed the base flooring to make sure no issues will come up later on. I would definitely recommend him for your tile installation."

"Stuart did an excellent job restoring my 89 square feet of Corian countertops to like-new condition. He is obviously an expert in this work. He was skillful and easy to work with. Good communication on digital media and in person. Very much a good investment for the homeowner."

"This is the second bathroom remodel Joe has done for us. This project also included tiling a long back hall, wrapping exterior pillars, and changing out the door knobs and hinges in our home. Joe is meticulous! The first contractor we have ever used who is fussier than we are, and that is saying a lot! Joe takes great pride in his work and makes sure we are 100% pleased with every detail. If I could give him 10 stars or more I would!"

"If you are looking for quality workmanship, experience, someone highly knowledgeable with an unusually broad skill set that will work hard, pay attention to details and make sure the job is done right, call Jack at Strong Builders. If on the other hand you want poor workmanship, poor quality, workers with a bad attitude and a lack of experience, look elsewhere. We had a number of projects ranging from putting in dropped ceilings, a new doorway, insulating and putting up sheetrock on walls, and replacing large areas of ceilings that had been ripped out during mold and water damage remediation, and more. One of the things that most impressed us was his ability to not only grasp what we wanted done, but to have a better grasp of it than we did. He repaired formerly shoddy work to bring everything up to code. In every way, he, and the results, exceeded our expectations. After discussing what we wanted we received a detailed, itemized quote, stating everything he would be doing and the specific materials he would be using, right down to how many coats of spackle would be used and sanded. We have had numerous quotes for work before, but none this well detailed. We knew how much sheet rock, paint, molding, how many ceiling tiles and even how much time he would need for prep before we signed a contract. Pros: • Excellent work ethic • Reliable, returned phone calls, always let us know when he would be working and if something came up and he had to change plans we were always kept informed. • Trustworthy, I was very comfortable having him work in my home even when no one was home. • Left all work areas clean and tidy. • Respectful, if we made a request he never questioned it. As an example, we have several dogs, one of which is a recent rescue and is still very much a flight risk. Jack was aware of this and went to great lengths to not frighten her and to make sure that she did not have a chance to get loose. • Above all, quality work and an excellent eye for detail. We had no idea that what we were asking for would look so amazing! Cons: • None that I am aware of Would we hire Strong Builders again? Definitely, and we are looking forward to doing so again."

"Prompt response… very professional! I have been without a sink for two weeks, called a few companies and no follow up.. Tejadas was able to fit me in right away.. they were at my home on time and did a great job cutting my granite countertop and positioned my sink to get installed by the plumber… I would definitely hire them again for any future jobs"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

Like glass tiles, you will not need to seal most porcelain tiles, particularly if the porcelain is already glazed. It depends on quality. Porcelain is very water resistant, but it is not 100% waterproof. To avoid staining, some homeowners use a penetrating sealer. It is also a good idea to seal your grout. Unless you use epoxy grout, grout is very porous and can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew.

You can use sanded or unsanded grout for a shower pan, but sanded grout isn’t the best option for shower walls. For those areas, you’ll want to use unsanded grout, which works well on vertical surfaces and is less likely to slump than sanded grout. Alternatively, you can use epoxy grout for shower walls.
