"Had a new addition put on my house. Shant was extremely helpful. Always available when I had questions and the most crew was very thorough and clean."
"Bob did an incredible job installing my new patio door. Very dependable and professional. Looking forward to working with him again on future projects. Would highly recommend!!"
"The team from McLaughlin Weatherization, who completed the work from my Mass Save Program energy audit to install insulation in my attic was AWESOME! They were a team of 3, who ensured the job got done efficiently and well. Professional, courteous and personable! I was very pleased with how they entered my home, treated my home and me while in it and when they left they even brushed up the very last of any dirt they might have brought in. I cannot rave enough about how great the experience was because I was able to work downstairs and stay out of their way but they definitely went above and beyond in my opinion! I didn't know the front door would get a package of weather stripping too. So while that was nice, the guy in charge of the team of 3 not only removed the old to install the new, the front door closes properly now! I cannot thank you enough for this small act of kindness (even if it was fixed with the new trim) because I had been so worried about my kitties getting out one day because the latch would not catch to keep the door closed. Also, the senior member leading the team demonstrated his years of experience and knowledge and explained everything to me and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this company as a partner for Mass Save and I would personally pay them for any future work needed if not covered by Mass Save."

"Power Construction installed vinyl siding on our home in Andover, MA, and we couldn’t be happier. From the first visit, Manuel was informative and never pushy—he even suggested ways to save money. With a toddler at home, we appreciated his punctuality and efficiency, especially compared to other reps. Their quote was the best mix of cost, quality, and commitment.
The install team—Eddy, Luis, and others—was outstanding. They finished the job in 5 days, without cutting corners. The site was cleaned daily, and they even hunted down every stray nail. They fixed every small imperfection we pointed out and went above and beyond, including painting our door and straightening out structural tilts.
Even months later, they returned to fix a minor issue I noticed. Their in-house electrician Mario was excellent too. Danielle in the office made scheduling and payments easy. They took full responsibility when small issues arose, and that’s rare. Highly recommend Power Const"
"Evolution Siding did a recent replacement siding project for us at our house. Brandon and his crew were excellent. Even though our project was small, Brandon did everything we asked for in a timely manner. His work was very detailed and he did not waste any materials. His pricing was very competitive and they cleaned up at the end of both days. Brandon was great to deal with and communicated well. I would highly recommend Brandon, his crew, and Evolution Siding for your next project."
"Golden Group removed old roof shingles and installed newshingles including Ice&Water barrier. It was about 3200 SF of roofing. Additionally, they fixed our vinyl siding replacing about 15 sq.yards of discolored siding with new one. Starting with very professional presentation by Freddy (owner) and excellent quote, the Golden Group took advantage of early warm days in March. They arrived promptly at 7am (including dumpster) in full force of about 10 people. Perectly organized and working as a team they quickly removed old shingles, protecting the house and surroundings with large tarps (no damage anywhere whatsoever). Then they installed Ice$Water barrier on most of the roof. Finally they installed new beautiful shingles, perfectly and very precisely. At the end they jumped on our siding repairs, finishing pretty much everything by 5pm in a single day! They cleaned everything around the house. Amazing job. Money well spent!"
"RORHI overall did a great job tearing down my old deck and installing a new Trex deck. The guys took two days for the job - efficient and quality work. I can recommend them without exception."
"5+ for service and quality. The other companies we spoke to didnâ t make our job a priority. We needed to reinsulate after a frozen pipe in our 4 season porch. We met them on Saturday and they did our job that Sunday. If you have a job that needs to be given a priority, call these people. Another company told us 6-8 weeks after waiting 10 days for an appointment. It is a family business that takes pride in their work and customer service. Dad has raised two amazing sons that we met."
"Replaced three courses of deteriorating CMU, while supporting the weight of the heavy concrete roof. The new CMU were reinforced with rebar and the cores filled with mortar."
Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.
Most professionals can enlarge a window in five to 10 hours, depending on the window location, the exterior wall material, how easy it is to cut through it, and how much buildback you’ll need after the installation is complete. However, more complex projects can take two to three days from start to finish.
Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.
The cost of window installation depends on several factors, including the window type, size, and frame material. Labor rates, the need for custom sizing, and any required structural modifications will also influence the final price.
Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.
