"Acadian to the rescue again! I have now used Acadian for a few houses over the years... well after installing a pool and poolside shed in my backyard, the logical choice was to go with a company that has been by my side for the past 10 years. Little did I know but the guys showed up to my house and educated me that not only did they have decorative glass but educated me that it needed to be safety glass because of the location on the shed! Thank goodness because I would have failed inspection without this knowledge. Thank you again for the professionalism, promptness and education. You have earned a customer for life!"

"We recently elected to use Tommy Kissinger of Tommy's Windows, 225-250-8808, [*** Link removed ***] for windows on two houses. He is licensed, bonded, insured. His work associates, Chip and Trevor, work fast, they're very organized, and work like a routine machine. They did a professional job, fine Christian men, polite, friendly. Tommy gave us a senior discount (ask for it). We were very pleased at the outcome! We got several bids and liked Tommy's manner and product best. We also met him at the remodeling expo at Lamar Dixon - Ralph's from Gonzales hosted the event with lots of food and ideas. The windows are vinyl with lifetime warranty on labor and materials, including glass breakage. Tommy's product is Wincore Windows and Doors, out of Parkersburg, WV, and comes in a variety of colors and options. Tommy has completed 3 houses on Colonial, one on Rosale, and our 2 on Wartelle. Give him a call if you're ready for windows, etc. We highly recommend him."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of different mirrors that can make a small bathroom look bigger. If you need a functional mirror in the space, choose a frameless option instead of a mirror with thick or intricate framing. Heavy frames can make the space feel cluttered. Additionally, you can swap a large mirror with small frameless mirrors to create the illusion of more wall space.

Black spots on the bottom or along the edge of your bathroom mirror are caused by oxidation behind the mirror glass. When moisture and air are trapped between the glass and the backing, they react and cause discoloration. This is sometimes referred to as “mirror rot.” You’ll need to separate the glass and the backing to fully remove it.

Smart glass doesn’t use a lot of electricity, and you can expect a standard window to add between $1 and $2 per year to your electric bills. Smart glass is proof that energy-efficient windows work. Although your smart windows may consume a little energy to operate, they can save enough energy to offset the costs. If you’re concerned about the minimal bump to your electricity consumption, you can opt for smart tint, which doesn’t require electricity to work.

Prior to the middle part of the 1900s, glass manufacturers used a technique that involved blowing glass into cylinder shapes that were then flattened out to create sheets used for windows and doors. This technique often left behind ripples and inconsistencies in the glass.

The average mirror has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. After that, the coating begins to deteriorate, losing its reflective properties. Acrylic mirrors have a slightly shorter lifespan of seven to 10 years. Higher-quality acrylic sheets with UV-resistant properties have lifespans similar to those of your average mirror. By maintaining your mirrors and keeping them out of direct sunlight when not in use, you can extend their lifespan. Some mirrors can last for decades.
