"Acadian to the rescue again! I have now used Acadian for a few houses over the years... well after installing a pool and poolside shed in my backyard, the logical choice was to go with a company that has been by my side for the past 10 years. Little did I know but the guys showed up to my house and educated me that not only did they have decorative glass but educated me that it needed to be safety glass because of the location on the shed! Thank goodness because I would have failed inspection without this knowledge. Thank you again for the professionalism, promptness and education. You have earned a customer for life!"

"We recently elected to use Tommy Kissinger of Tommy's Windows, 225-250-8808, [*** Link removed ***] for windows on two houses. He is licensed, bonded, insured. His work associates, Chip and Trevor, work fast, they're very organized, and work like a routine machine. They did a professional job, fine Christian men, polite, friendly. Tommy gave us a senior discount (ask for it). We were very pleased at the outcome! We got several bids and liked Tommy's manner and product best. We also met him at the remodeling expo at Lamar Dixon - Ralph's from Gonzales hosted the event with lots of food and ideas. The windows are vinyl with lifetime warranty on labor and materials, including glass breakage. Tommy's product is Wincore Windows and Doors, out of Parkersburg, WV, and comes in a variety of colors and options. Tommy has completed 3 houses on Colonial, one on Rosale, and our 2 on Wartelle. Give him a call if you're ready for windows, etc. We highly recommend him."

"I had 17 windows installed by Windows World. The quality of the windows appears excellent. Installation was accomplished by crew of 4 over about 6 hours. Installation went well and windows appear to be well installed. One concern is that the caulk lines are wide in some windows and may indicate small measurement errors. When installing replacement windows into fully brick home, the replacement window must fit into the smallest dimension. This also may explain some but not all of these wider than expected caulk lines. My biggest concerns with job are easily fixed by Windows World with better training of the installation crew. On demolition of old spec house aluminum windows, a torch is used to loosen the tarry adhesive used in these windows. If care it not taken this tarry material can be splattered on drywall surfaces near the window as the glass and frame are removed. This stuff is very diffidult remove from any surface it lands on. The clean up after the job needs to be improved. It was not terrible but could have been great if crew spent an extra 15 minutes. Some areas were not well swept up. After the job is complete, the crew should remove the three big labels on each of the windows. I asked for this to be done but it was lost in translation so I did it myself. Also and finally, the last step a window installation crew should do before leaving the site is to clean each and every window inside and out to remove caulk, grease, old window tar, sweat, etc that are inevitable parts of this type of project. It was a big hassle to do this after the fact particularly after spending thousands for the installation. I think many and perhaps all these issues were related to the fact the this job was large and 2 more jobs were still scheduled for this crew that day. So overall I am satified with the project and would still recommend WW but I hope the local Windows World of Baton Rouge francise does read this review and will make some simple upgrades to the training of their installation crews. In anycase new Windows World clients should be aware of these issues and be prepared to closely manage the installation phase of the project and make sure you are are fully satisified before letting the crew offsite."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Getting a streak-free shine after cleaning your windows requires both the right cleaning solutions—which can either include warm water and dish soap or warm water and rubbing alcohol—and the right tools—namely, a squeegee and a microfiber cloth. To make your streak-free glass cleaner, combine one gallon of warm water with a few drops of dish soap, and mix. Apply with a sprayer or sponge, and then dry with a squeegee, microfiber cloth, or old black-and-white newspaper pages.

You should always pack glasses standing up. It will eliminate the pressure that comes with weight when delicate items are stacked on top of each other horizontally. Don’t forget to wrap each glass individually with bubble wrap, and don’t add anything on top except for additional padding. Always mark these boxes as fragile.

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

Prior to the middle part of the 1900s, glass manufacturers used a technique that involved blowing glass into cylinder shapes that were then flattened out to create sheets used for windows and doors. This technique often left behind ripples and inconsistencies in the glass.

The size of your mirror depends on the size of your vanity and personal preference. Most people prefer a mirror that is 1 to 2 inches narrower than the width of their vanity, while others like a mirror that’s the same width as their vanity. Remember that the mirror should sit 5 to 10 inches above your faucet when choosing dimensions.
