"The owner was responsive to provide a bid and started work on the agreed upon day. The foundation repair seems to be of good quality and I would recommend them for this type of repair. They work met all expectations for this portion of the project. We included a small tuck pointing project on a wall and masonry refinishing of a porch step as part of the contract. This small part of the project overshadows the entire job based on the poor quality of work. The pictures below show the tuck pointing AFTER the first attempt to fix the problem. They did not even touch the worst bricks at the top and poorly applied masonry on the bottom part as shown in the picture. On the step, they patched the a portion that was flaking and left the remainder of the step untouched. The owner said he didn't think we had agreed to fix the whole step (why would anyone only patch one foot of a six foot step? ...and it was specified in the contract). He made the requested repairs after the first attempt and less than two weeks later, the second picture shows the end results. It crumbled like sand without touching it! I emailed the owner and asked how he would like to handle the situation and he never responded back. Masonry work is not their specialty....Floors Sag and Shake doesn't apply to masonry! I don't normally write reviews, but I can't let this go without sharing."

A marble and granite service project directly impacts your plumbing and electrical systems. Countertop replacements require disconnecting sinks, so hire a licensed plumber to handle older pipes safely. Repositioning under-cabinet lighting requires a licensed electrician to meet state codes. Additionally, heavy stone flooring alters your home's temperature retention. In Ruston, stone floors feel significantly cooler in the winter, requiring adjustments to your heating system settings.
Helpful?
Select dense granite for outdoor kitchens and patios, as it resists the occasional hard freezes in Ruston. For indoor marble and granite service projects, apply penetrating sealers rather than topical ones to handle the high humidity without peeling. You must also use moisture-resistant mortar and grout in bathrooms to prevent mold growth. Because local suppliers source stone regionally, select your slabs early to avoid project delays.
Helpful?
Assess your home's foundation and cabinetry before starting a marble and granite service project. Ruston homes with concrete slabs provide an excellent base for heavy stone flooring. However, older homes with pier-and-beam foundations require a professional structural evaluation to ensure they support the added weight without moisture-related settling. You must also inspect original wood cabinets in older properties to confirm they hold the heavy stone slabs safely.
Helpful?
Always hire licensed professionals for your marble and granite service. Ensure your contractor carries general liability and workers' compensation insurance to protect your property during LA storm seasons. Look for experts experienced with the humid climate, as they understand proper sealing techniques. Since installers source stone slabs from regional hubs like Shreveport or Monroe, ask your contractor about lead times to keep your project on schedule.
Helpful?
High humidity accelerates sealer wear, so you must reseal countertops annually to protect your stone. Inspect and clean grout lines regularly to prevent mold growth in your bathrooms. For outdoor marble and granite service installations in LA, sweep away spring pollen and debris promptly to prevent stains. You should also wipe down polished surfaces frequently to prevent hard water spots from regional mineral deposits.
