"The process went very well. There was a long delay due to weather when it would not stop raining, but Clarion kept in touch with me. Once they could actually get out to do the work it was complete in 2 days like they said it would be. The contractors were really professional and very good at what they do. Even with the heavy equipment the yard had minimal damage and that is nothing compared to how great the cleared land looks."

"First of all he's honest because everyone else wanted to charge me $800-$1200 dollars to relevel my trailer home. Eric came out and seen it was a simple fix and did it for $250 I was so impressed I decided to give him more work to clean my yard from storm damage and he and his helpers did a wonderful job they were fast efficient and respectful. And for the first time hiring handymen I didn't have to repeat myself to him Eric did exactly what I asked him to do Very Very impressed"

"Toujours homes was great to work with. They showed up on time every time. They completed the scope of work in a timely manner and went above and beyond to ensure the project was done to perfection. I will definitely be using them again in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do any home construction projects."

"Excellent company that provides excellent work. You will be blessed by their work and business. They put a metal roof on my house before hurricane Laura came through. It sustained 135 mile per hour winds and the only thing it damaged was the trim and some ridge cap so their work is excellent and they know what they are doing. Because my roof held and it was because of their excellent work. I will recommend their work to anyone."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.
