We are new and small but have worked in this field for over 20 years. Our experience with the storms since 2019 led us to start a business full time because so many of our friends and family were in need. After seeing and hearing of so many contractors from other states accepting money but not fulfilling customer's wishes, we stepped out in faith and let God do the rest. We are locally owned and operated. We are we are registered with State Licensing Board for Contractors in Louisiana. We are active members of the Home Builders Association of Southwest Louisiana. Don't let size full you, a mustard seed blooms into a 6 foot tree.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

If nail pops in your drywall aren't fixed, there can be consequences to the structure of your home and the aesthetics of the room. Nail pops may loosen or weaken drywall and may be less effective at providing support and insulation, ultimately requiring more extensive repairs or replacement in the future. If not fixed, the blemish will become increasingly unsightly over time, potentially leading to further damage as raised areas easily catch on objects or clothing.

Stick frames, metal frames, or prefabricated concrete frames are included in framing a house, along with creating the framework and space for windows, doors, and entryways. Other aspects of developing a home—like drywall, insulation, windows, doors, and more—are not included in the cost to frame a house.
