Hargrave Painting had a reputation as clean, fast, reliable painters in the Acadia Parish area. When my father, Burton Hargrave pasted way in 2013 I was still finishing college. When I finished my degree I worked for 5 years in my career now I Blair Hargrave is looking to get back to the painting business. I worked with my dad for over 8 years and still today work on the side. I'm looking to see if there is enough work out there for me to focus 100% on painting. It's a passion of mine to paint and to be professional. It's more of a art form to me. I enjoy seeing and hearing the appreciation of ones work from my customers.I will be professional and you will be satisfied I guarantee it !

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

A 50-pound mirror can be hung on drywall, but only if it has the support of strong hardware. Ideally, you can find the studs behind the drywall and attach the mirror to them; this will give your mirror better stability. Otherwise, confirm that you are using anchors appropriate to the weight of the mirrors. Another technique is to use French cleats—two pieces of wood that fit together, with one piece attached to the wall and the other to the mirror. This allows the weight to be distributed over a wider area.

You should wait at least 24 hours between each coat of drywall mud before sanding and adding another coat. This ensures the mud dries completely, although drying time depends on temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Lightweight muds dry faster, while heavier all-purpose compounds take longer. Always check for firmness and dryness before sanding or applying the next layer.
