"Had a 100-foot water oak removed and couldn’t be happier with how everything went. The tree was in a tight spot between my home and a shed, but the crew handled it with skill and precision. They showed up right on time, did exactly what they said they would, and kept me informed throughout the whole process. Communication was clear and consistent, which made a big job feel easy. They worked efficiently, safely, and left the area clean when they were done. It’s not often you find a company that delivers this level of professionalism start to finish. Highly recommend them if you need tree work done."

"The crew was very courteous and pruned according to my instructions--did not over prune. They did a nice job of cleaning up and took care not to damage plants and shrubs in the process. The owner is a certified Arborist and couldn't have been nicer. I would absolutely call on him again.

"Excellent. Beyond expectations. They did it efficiently and on time. They even cut the proper size limbs into fireplace lengths so I could use a splitter on them. (At no extra charge.) They leveled the torn up yard with their Bobcat.. The original quoted price was $5,000, but it was reduced to $4,500 when I told them not to grind the stump. All debris was carried away. I would definitely recommend this company."

"I was very happy with his service. In all he removed 5 stamps; one up against a building and four stumps which were located along the fence. Given the difficulty of the job he did an excellent job. Removing the wood chips was part of the negotiation so he brought a few helpers to get the job done."

"I am more than satisfied with the level of professionalism and quality of work provided by Mr Allen's team. They've removed 3 live oaks from my property, even removed stumps that were left behind by another company from another tree. I highly recommend them to any one that is looking for this type of service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. The fact that around a dozen maple tree varieties exist, only about half of which are considered common, makes misidentification an often typical occurrence.

Although the terms tree trimming and tree pruning are used interchangeably, they are very different types of tree maintenance. Tree trimming involves enhancing the appearance of your tree by removing unruly branches, providing your tree with ample sunlight and nutrients and prevents unsightly overgrowth.

Tree pruning helps keep your trees disease-free. This process removes unhealthy growths, dead branches, and other unhealthy parts of the tree. It’s more common for deciduous and ornamental trees but not so common for evergreen trees. To determine which method you need, discuss it with a tree trimming specialist.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.
