As with timing, the cost to remove tile flooring varies depending on a number of factors, including size and type, adhesive type, condition of the tile and adhesive, and the method used to remove it. If you’re doing it yourself, you can expect the job to cost only the price of any tools, materials, or equipment that you don’t already have. If you’re hiring a professional, expect to pay between $2 and $7 per square foot for labor costs, along with added fees for materials.

First, most contractors will have a structural engineer create a report and plan for your project to ensure it’s safe to cut into the load-bearing wall. The contractor will then excavate around the wall, if necessary, measure the opening—allowing for additional space to fit and level the door, and then cut the doorway out. They will likely install a steel lintel as a header over the door for support. Once the doorway is cut out, they’ll demolish the concrete using sledge hammers and masonry chisels, clean up the surrounding concrete, and seal around the door with masonry mortar. 

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.

Once your concrete is broken down into chunks, it is time to remove it. The easiest way to do this is to hire a concrete hauler or junk removal service—however, this is also the most costly option. Taking it to a landfill yourself is cheaper but much more work. Posting a classified ad or enquiring with local landscaping companies or concrete suppliers are more sustainable options, but only if you find an interested party to recycle the concrete for another construction project.

Removing a fence can be rather difficult. The fence posts are likely buried deep in the ground and may even be set in concrete. After removing the fence pickets and rails, allocate plenty of time for removing the fence posts. Depending on the condition and size of a fence, removing one could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
