"AMERICRAWL BASEMENT SOLUTIONS - Basement Waterproofing

Price was competitive.
He had the best price.
Our neighbor had used them before, so that will be a factor in who we choose for the job."

"To start out,.. I'm gonna say,.. I will NEVER CALL ANYBODY ELSE.  From the original estimate,.. Lee and Jason were both very professional. They didn't rush me,.. and answered any question I had,.. big or small.  When they left,.. I had already decided that I wouldn't use anybody else. Once I got the estimate,.. I was thoroughly surprised. They were the low estimate BY FAR. When I contacted Lee to schedule a date,.. he did warn me that he was about a month out,.. due to overwhelming response from Angie's List. In my opinion,.. a good contractor is worth waiting on.
Once they started to work,.. they were absolutely professional. I never heard a single negative thing out of either one of them,.. even when we ran into many problems due to my house being 65 years old. They were originally hired to just replace the upflow system and part of the floor in the basement bathroom. Once we got them replaced,.. we realized that I had a water leak,.. and upon examination,.. we realized the showed drain was leaking. After talking it over thoroughly,.. and discussing options,.. I decided to start new with a full size shower to replace the small neoangle unit. This involved totally stripping shower,.. drywall and the floor in that area,.. building a wall out about 12 inches and totally redoing the plumbing in that area. This pushed them back four days,. but they didn't hesitate.
We did have some small problems with the upstairs bathroom,.. including a leaky pipe in the wall that needed to be replaced (running from ceiling to basement) and once again,.. they thoroughly gave me all of my options,.. and we replaced it all.
Lee and Jason were an absolute joy to be around. I ended up being off work for the whole remodel due to an illness. Most contractors would make you feel in the way,.. but not them. They were actually like having two friends working on your house. They even went as far as checking in on me when I was sick and laid up in the basement bedroom one day.
I also work out of town. I wouldn't hesitate to leave them with a key (which I did) for long periods of time,.. and they were very good and considerate with my family including interacting with my 19 month old son,.. which you usually don't see from contractors.  Overall,.. I just can't express how pleased I am by choosing Dimmett's Home Repair Service. If you are reading this looking for a contractor,.. you shouldn't hesitate to call them.

"Not good. The water leaks had caused black mold that had to be repaired. When repairs were completed 3 months later, the valves still leaked from the stem when turned on. It was past 60 days so I had to pay another $100 service fee to have the water leaks fixed. He tightened the packing and quoted $350 to replace the valves. Sheesh."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Installing a water softener could help reduce calcium buildup in your pool if your pool has high calcium hardness as a result of hard drinking water in your home. Pool softeners work by exchanging calcium and magnesium for sodium, so if you use softened water to top off your pool, it may help keep calcium hardness from rising over time. However, it won’t lower the calcium hardness of the water already in your pool and isn’t a practical way to control pool calcium levels. The average water softener installation cost is between $200 and $6,000.

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

Water purifiers and water softeners serve different purposes, so the best one will depend on your particular needs. Water purifiers remove contaminants from water (such as bacteria, viruses, and chemicals), leaving you with ultra-clean and safe water. However, water softeners remove minerals from your water so that the water doesn’t leave stains around your house or cause plumbing problems.

While it depends on how complicated the unit and installation is, it takes two to four hours to install a water softener unit, on average. It might take longer if pipes need to be replaced. You should make sure the installation area is clear of any objects that might get in the way before you begin.
