"Ralph, who owns Louisville Hardscape, is very honest, hardworking, committed to doing a great job, and sticks to his word. He and his staff (who are also very hardworking) levelled my paver patio where it sank, which was a lot of work. They did a great job and I am very pleased with their work. I would recommend them for any hardscape job!"

"My name is Wesley, and I am a military Veteran. I recently utilized my VA Home Loan Benefits to purchase a brand new home for me and my son. Typically, one would not anticipate having any foundation defects or waterproofing issues when purchasing a brand new home. However, this was not the case with us. We had major issues with our basement, every time that it rained. I decided to reach out to CSI for assistance. They came out to my home in Somerset, KY and thoroughly inspected my basement. After assessing what the problem was, they quoted me an exceptionally reasonable price, and within one week; my problem was solved. I am completely satisfied with the quality of service that I received from CSI, and I would recommend this company to anyone in Kentucky who is having issues with the their home's foundation or issues with any type of leaks in your basement. CSI can be reached at (888) 857-0007, or at [email protected]. P.S. Tell'em dat "Big Wes" sent'chu. OORAH!!"

"James was very professional and easy to work with. He explained everything in detail and delivered what he had promised. From start to finish he showed up when he said he would. We were in constant communication. James takes pride in his work and it clearly showed in the finished exterior staircase. Our staircase is now solid and stable. I would highly recommend him and will use him again."

Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered by experts

No. Placing a built-in grill against the house is discouraged due to safety concerns. Building codes and regulations often require a minimum distance (typically 10 feet or more) between a gas grill and any combustible structure, including a house. Placing a grill too close poses a fire hazard and risks damage to the siding or structure, potentially leading to carbon monoxide buildup. It's essential to consult local building codes, follow manufacturer guidelines, and prioritize safety by positioning the grill at a safe distance, ideally in a well-ventilated outdoor kitchen or designated grill area.

The decision to build or buy an outdoor pizza oven depends on your personal preferences, budget, and time. Whether building is cheaper hinges on the style you choose and the tools and materials you already possess. For example, having a surplus of fire bricks from a previous project can significantly reduce costs. However, if you need to purchase all the required materials, buying a pre-made oven is often the more affordable and less labor-intensive option, with prices for quality versions typically ranging from $300 to $1,000. Keep in mind that while a DIY project can be cheaper than hiring a professional for a custom build, it carries the risk of injury or costly construction errors.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

Weatherproofing and winterizing your outdoor kitchen is extremely important, especially if you experience intense weather events. Make sure to choose weather-resistant furniture and waterproof containers to store ingredients. Also, go with a high-quality grill that’s built to last and protect your cabinets with sealant or varnish. Finally, invest in a covering of some kind for when it rains or snows.

The best types of wood for outdoor kitchen cabinets are those naturally resistant to weather, water, heat, fading, and mold or mildew. Excellent choices include teak, mahogany, white oak, and Brazilian walnut. It's best to avoid softwoods like pine and cedar, as they are more susceptible to damage and can catch fire easily. For extra protection, ensure the wood is pressure-treated. Regardless of the wood you choose, you will need to apply sealants, oils, and stains regularly to protect your cabinets from the elements.
