"If you need any masonry work done donâ t look any further JC Masonry is the one you need. He came out and quoted my project and did the repair work within a week which is unheard of. The job was completed & looks beautiful. They left the jobs site cleaner than it was when they arrived. Jose was excellent with all communication regarding the project. You will not be disappointed"

"

We called C.KING Foundation & Construction to fix a leaking basement wall crack. Chris King explained the procedure, provided a quote and promptly set up an appointment. Gary arrived right on schedule to do the job. He was friendly, knowledgeable, fast and efficient. Gary left the area neat and clean and provided a lifetime warranty on the repair. We were very pleased with the experience from start to finish...a job well done.

"I had three different estimates. Ohio Basment Authority was the most professional of them all. Patrick came and took the measurements and gave me several different options. He drew a sketch of my basment on his tablet and showed me exactly what was going to happen. He was not pushy to make a sale.I would like to personally thank the crew from Ohio Basment Authority. Casey, Allen, Michael, Ryan and Bret. These guys are top notch professionals. They were polite and kept me informed and showed me the work throughout the process. I highly recommend Ohio Basment Authority for any of your basment needs."

"Matt was an awesome rep. He came to our home inspected and gave us the quote. When there was an issue later down the road on where the window could be placed because we didn’t know where some of our lines were under ground be came back and reevaluated and came up with a plan. We had to change our entire floor plan for this window but it’s ok it wasn’t there fault it’s all going to work out in the end."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Drilling into brick or mortar requires the use of a masonry drill bit. Masonry drill bits appear similar to standard drill bits except for the leading tip of the bit. The tip has a bulky carbide arrow-shaped end slightly larger than the rest of the bit shaft. Standard or high-speed drill bits designed for making holes in wood or metal don’t have the ruggedness or design shape you need to drill into brick. They may not go through the brick at all, and if they do, they’re more likely to overheat, crack, or dull before you finish drilling.

Yes, an outdoor fireplace should use fire bricks. Fire bricks are specially designed to withstand high levels of heat and thus won’t crack as easily as regular bricks when exposed to the intense heat inside a fireplace.

Choosing the right paint color for your brick house can be a daunting task. A great strategy is to find painted brick houses that you like and try to replicate the look by researching their colors or asking the homeowners for the specific paint color code.

If you're looking for specific ideas, several colors work well on brick. Different shades of white, such as off-white or cream-white, can create a modern, timeless, and classic look that is unlikely to go out of style. For a more contemporary aesthetic, you might consider a matte black tone. Other popular choices include gray, blue, and sage green.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.

Costs depend on material type, labor, chimney requirements, and structural reinforcements.
