"We had a tech named JD. Very polite and respectful. As he was walking in the door he was putting socks over his work boots. He made sure to ask if you had any questions or concerns. When finished, explained everything that was done. Definitely would ask for again. This service was no cost because we bought a new furnace that comes with 10 year parts and labor warranty. the 1st year of check ups are free."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Shut-off valves, like any other piece of metal hardware, can corrode, age, get worn down, and eventually break or rust into place. Occasionally spray your shut-off valve with WD-40 to stall it from rusting. If it really gets stuck, a wrench and WD-40 will usually do the trick, but you will need to call a plumber if it’s completely unmovable.

Take this one seriously! If your oven smells like gas when it’s off, this is a telltale sign of a gas leak that can lead to a fire or explosion. In addition, a small leak has the potential to turn into a major leak without warning if any part of your piping or tubing breaks. Potential sources of a leak include the gas valve, burner, joint, or connection lines behind the stove. If the leak appears to be significant, you should contact the gas company or fire department.

You will need to hire a professional installation technician or plumber to connect your dryer to your gas line or install a new line. Your gas company may be able to help you find a capable, reputable professional in your area.

Many people find switching from an electric stove to a gas stove well worth the hassle. After all, gas stoves last up to 15 years, whereas most electric stoves only last up to 13 years. Plus, the sentiment and joy of cooking over a real fire is indeed irreplaceable—and offers more precise temperature controls than electric cooktops. The cost of converting an electric cooktop to a gas stove depends on whether your kitchen already has gas supplies, and the cost can range from $125 to $2,000. Also, make sure your new stove’s dimensions match the old one.

Common signs of gas line leaks include a rotten egg smell, hissing sounds, dead plants around the area of the leak, and unexplained physical symptoms like dizziness and nausea. If you notice any of these signs, act immediately. Shut off the gas supply to your home and call a pro to assess the situation.
