"We had a great experience working with Harvest and Habitat. They helped us address excess water on our property by installing a holistic water management system that included swales, drains, and a food forest planting. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and the end result of the project far exceeded our expectations. They are a great team, very hard working and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them!"

"The service provider doesn't provide the service I am looking for. He stated that he was listed as carpentry he should be listed as cabinetry. In addition after speaking with him this type of job is not really what he does. He stated that he was going to redo the ad to avoid this in the future. Please refund the entire amount. Call me if you have any questions."

"Teana has done a fantastic job! We had been using a house cleaner for almost a year, and, while we trusted the person, we were not satisfied with the work. It can be very difficult to move to a new person, but decided to give Teana a try. We are so happy that we made the switch! She does an impeccable job and it makes our lives so much better! So happy we found her business!"

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.
