"After quoting out with multiple companies, Ohio Basement Authority was a great choice. They were very thorough in explaining the options and were courteous on the day of the drainage install. I appreciated that they took great care with the sprinkler lines and repairing any items accidentally hit. They helped troubleshoot a few other potential problems when on-site saving a service call as well. Nick Toledo, Larry and Chad were prompt and certainly a crew I'd hire again."

"Daniel is an excellent contractor. He completed all the work I requested in a timely manner and for the original cost that was quoted. I have since hired him to do additional work in my home and will continue to use him. He is fair and honest and will tell you if you how to save money on repairs. I would highly recommend Daniel for any work you need."

"Windows done right! We had our original 1978 windows in our home. They were out dated & completely inefficient. We looked around for windows and were really impressed with what *Improve It* hadn't offer & the affordability. We went from 21 leaky, out dated inefficient, unreliable windows to 11 GORGEOUS big open, beautiful sun giving windows! No more plastic on our windows!!! Easy to open & close, safety locks, tempered because of the ginormous size, safe & easy to clean! Win, Win!!! The crew was AMAZING!!! Not to mention how professional and courteous they were! All while working around and with 2 small children in the home. Fast, efficient, professional & gorgeous! We loved our experience enough to share with our family who just had their old windows replaced!!! Next project, BATHROOM!!!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

No, it’s not safe to use a blowtorch or any open flame to thaw pipes. The intense heat can cause the pipe to burst and/or start a fire, leading to very costly damage. Instead, use safer external heating alternatives, such as heat tape, a space heater, or an infrared lamp.

A plumbing emergency is a problem that threatens to severely damage your home or put your family at risk if not addressed immediately. If leaving the issue until regular business hours will cause more damage, it's an emergency. Examples include burst pipes, major leaks, significant drain clogs, a lack of hot water, a suspected gas leak, an out-of-control water heater, or a sewer line backup forcing gases into your home. Many home insurance policies will cover sudden and unexpected plumbing emergencies, provided they are not caused by homeowner negligence.

If your wall is wet, but there isn’t a leak, it’s likely a result of humidity and condensation from running a hot shower or cooking in the kitchen. The best way to remedy this issue is to run the fan in the bathroom when you’re showering or in the kitchen when you’re cooking. You can also use a dehumidifier to help remove moisture from the air.

Flex is necessary for soldering copper pipe. This acidic paste attracts the solder, pulling it deeper into the joint so the solder fills all the gaps between the two metal fittings. While many solder products contain small amounts of flux, you need to apply the additional flux paste to ensure you achieve a water-tight fit between the two copper pipes.

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.
