"Great group! Very organized and hard working, including Saturdays. We own an old house so finding the wood to match was difficult but he went to several stores and found an acceptable part and stained it to match almost perfectly. Did a beautiful job on the house & meticulously painted our wrought iron fence! Loved using email for communication. VERY RESPONSIVE-unlike any other painters we had contacted. Will always hire WR Painting for any paint project. Will be hiring for our next tile project also."

"OAI leveled and resurfaced our 25 year old elevated, multi tiered deck as well as replaced the steps and repaired some of the railings . Abe provided a detailed plan and bid; he was open to make changes and additions once he began the job. He and his crew were respectful of our property; cleaning the site as they went. He provided quality work, finishing ahead of schedule despite work days well over 90 degrees!!"

"I hired Us Paintmasters LLC from Union , Ky. They did a wonderful job painting the interior of my house. I also had them replace my flooring on my entire first floor. It looks terrific! I highly recommend them and plan on using them in the future if I want to redecorate!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.
