"I called Jessica when my regular decorator was unable to help me redecorate my bathrooms and I was not disappointed! Jessica responds to all questions and phone calls almost immediately and I absolutely love her choices. My husband was not excited about updating our bathrooms until he saw Jessica’s mood-boards and now even he can’t wait to get started on the project. My only concern is that once the bathrooms are complete we will want to do more updating! Thank you Jessica and Dani! Would definitely recommend. I am a retired real estate agent so I have worked with many home stagers and decorators throughout my 35 year career and I think Jessica’s talents are among the best."

"Charley and his team were hardworking, professional and flexible throughout my entire project. Battled with the spring rains to install french drains throughout my hillside property. Tilled compost and seeded so now I have grass where clay once prevented anything but weeds from growing. Added flower beds to the front of the property where the builder did nothing. Charley came up with the perfect combination of flowers and shrubs, small brick patio and even did some concrete work (that was decided after the project was well under way). I trusted his experience to turn my blank canvas into something I will enjoy for years to come. Thank You!"

"I recently hired Wheeler Electrical Services for some electrical work at my home, and I couldn?t be more impressed. From start to finish, the experience was professional, efficient, and stress-free. They showed up on time, clearly explained the work that needed to be done, and completed everything with precision and care. The quality of the work is outstanding, and they left everything clean and tidy when they finished. It?s clear they take pride in their craftsmanship and genuinely care about customer satisfaction. I?ll definitely be calling them again for any future electrical needs and would recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, top-notch service."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

If half of a string of Christmas lights is out, it is likely because of a single burned-out, loose, or broken bulb within that section. Long strands of lights often contain more than one circuit, so when one bulb fails, it can cause the entire circuit (or half the strand) to go dark. To fix this, inspect the unlit section and test each bulb to ensure it is tight and functioning properly. Replacing the faulty bulb or repairing a damaged shunt will typically solve the problem.

Replacing a pool light costs about $625 per light. If you only need to replace the light bulb, plan on paying about $20 to $100 per light. The largest cost factors include the type of pool light, the number of pool lights needed, and the labor costs in your location. But additional cost factors include work required on existing wiring, other repairs, and the continual maintenance needed to keep your pool light in good working condition after installation.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

Yes, animals can trigger motion-sensor lights. In fact, this is a reason why some homeowners install motion-sensor lights, to catch sneaky little critters looking through the rubbish for a midnight snack. There are sensitivities to animal detection though, so you may want to look for an option that avoids animal detection as much as possible.

While wet-rated and damp-rated lighting is designed to handle contact with moisture, there’s a difference between the two. Wet-rated lighting is safety-rated to be placed in areas with direct exposure to water, including your shower. Fixtures classed as wet-rated are made with waterproof seals to protect the filament and other electrical components from water and moisture.

Damp-rated fixtures can be used in places with some moisture contact, but not direct exposure. They don’t have the same waterproof seals used in wet-rated fixtures. Damp-rated lighting can be used on your bathroom ceiling or along a wall outside of your shower.
