"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"I rarely write reviews but this guy deserved it as he went above and beyond! Easy to get in touch with, punctual, very professional yet nice enough to be "the guy next door". Went above and beyond cleaning out the gutter. He also trimmed several limbs/branches that were contributing to the blockage and hauled away the mess. As we were wrapping up, he pointed out a medium-sized tree that was causing damage to my house and brought it down for me (for nothing extra!) Like I said, I normally don't write a review but this experience was something I had to share for others."

Hurricane Shutters questions, answered by experts

If a window breaks during a hurricane, the first thing to do is get away from it, shut the door to the room, and move to a different part of your home. Ideally, you should wait out the storm in a room that doesn’t have any windows. Afterward, safely throw out the broken glass while wearing gloves and call a window replacement professional to discuss your options.

Metal is one of the best types of hurricane shutters because they are the most durable and longest lasting option. This shutter type will likely cost more than other materials like plywood, but metal hurricane shutters are a permanent solution compared to the temporary nature of putting plywood over your windows during a hurricane. You should also consider hurricane panels and automatic roll-down shutters that are useful for emergency situations.

Hurricane shutters cost about $3,700 on average, ranging from $1,500 to 5,900, depending on the style, size, materials, and your location. Materials may include metal, plastic, fabric, or wood.

Additional cost factors to consider include the number of windows, the time of year you install, and necessary permits. Keep in mind that if you purchase and install hurricane shutters during hurricane season, namely June through November in most states, you can expect to pay more due to increased demand.

During hurricanes or other major storms, high winds can cause objects and debris to fly through the air, which can break your windows. Depending on how strong the storm is, the winds themselves may be strong enough to break your windows, too. Investing in storm windows or hurricane shutters can help protect you against potential window breakage.

Professionals enhance safety by addressing structural issues, securing loose components, and using non-toxic materials. They ensure compliance with building codes and conduct thorough inspections to identify potential hazards. Their expertise minimizes risks, making the home safer during and after repairs.
