"Josh and his employees made my kitchen beautiful with renewed cabinet facing. There were a couple of faux pas, but they were quickly taken care of by all. They were confident in their work, did everything as asked, cleaned up afterward and were very friendly. I would recommend Marshall Renovations."

"Caleb Biggs is a consummate professional, who gave us better-than-expected results refinishing and refurbishing a 40-year-old dining table. Caleb is a gentleman, a skilled craftsman, imminently trustworthy, and extremely knowledgeable. We would hire him again in a minute. Wish I could give him 6 stars!"

"The quality of the work was excellent. Donovan is professional, trustworthy, and highly skilled. He did a great job installing handrails, bathroom grab bars, fixing windows, doors, and a garage door. He explained everything clearly, he was on time, and cleaned up thoroughly. His priorities were safety and quality work. He did a beautiful job. Highly recommended."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

Options include stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets, each offering varying levels of personalization and cost.

It is cheaper to paint kitchen cabinets than to replace them. Painting costs range from $400 to $1,300, based on the size and complexity of the project and the average costs in your area. In contrast, replacing kitchen cabinets can cost several thousand dollars, including materials, installation, and potential modifications to countertops and plumbing.

Yes, stacked cabinets, bulkhead trim, and crown molding are worth it. This look is not only customized and high-end, but you’ll also have the added benefit of extra storage space. And because you don’t need to remove your existing cabinets to achieve this look, you’ll save by not needing to complete a kitchen remodel—which could run between $15,000 and $40,000.

You aren’t obligated to tip cabinet contractors, but you can choose to do so if they went above and beyond and you want to show your gratitude. This is usually something in the ballpark of 10% to 15% of your total cost. As an alternative, you can provide snacks and drinks for workers and/or offer to serve as a reference for prospective customers.

It is generally more cost-effective to purchase stock or semi-custom cabinets than to have them custom-built. The best option depends on your budget and customization needs.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs per linear foot:

  • Custom Cabinets: $500 to $1,200. The final price is influenced by factors like materials, size, and design complexity. For example, a basic slab cabinet door might cost $60 to $70 for materials, while a more intricate mullioned glass inset panel door can range from $100 to $200 per door.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: $150 to $700.

  • Stock Cabinets: $100 to $400. These are pre-built and the most affordable option, but they offer limited customization and may not be suitable for rooms with unusual shapes or high ceilings.
