"The job was a bit expensive, but it's not a small house, though a neighbor is getting their house done by someone else for $1000 less. The house and trim look good, until you get really close. House color on trim edges that should be a different color. All over spray wasn't cleaned up well, no masking was done. Lots of paint on the driveway, in the grass and on the upper deck. Areas in the yard where brushes and equipment were cleaned, or where paint was spilled are now dead, I will have to reseed those areas when it gets cooler. For the most part we are satisfied, but attention to detail was lacking."

Do not use bleach when pressure washing, either in the machine or on the driveway itself. Bleach in a power washer will corrode the seal and nozzles of the machine. Spraying bleach (whether out of the machine or on the driveway itself) blasts bleach into the air. Bleach can be highly dangerous if inhaled, and it can kill plants, flowers, and neighbors' animals that accidentally ingest it. 

Though bleach is a great way to kill mold and mildew around the house, you should never, under any circumstances, use bleach in a power washer. Always make sure to use an electric-powered machine over one that’s gas-powered, remove obstacles that could cause tripping or falling, and keep appliances like hair dryers and toothbrushes unplugged and out of the way to prevent electrical hazards. 

If the exterior walls are not thoroughly cleaned before a paint job, the paint could stick to the grime, creating obvious imperfections along the way. Beyond that, painting over a freshly-cleaned wall just about doubles the lifespan of the paint, from three or four years to seven to ten years. 

How often you should pressure wash your house is mainly dependent on where you live and how dirty the area gets. For example, you may want to clean the exterior of your house two or more times a year if you live in an area with a lot of rain and snow. On the flip side, you may only need to pressure wash your outdoor patio furniture every few years as it starts to lose its luster (or if you forget to cover it before a big storm).
