"I conferred with Green Factor with a insulation issue. They were great to talk to, and in the end I did not need to do anything with my insulation. They gave me their honest professional opinion. I recommend them to anyone who needs a insulation project done."

"A sole proprietor business, Green Star provided a very competitive itemized written bid. Stuart was very accommodating in considering old (>100 years) home challenges and discussing insulation options and solutions. Promptly arrived on scheduled date, his team was diligent in adding blow in insulation to attic and exterior wall space, as well as foam to basement sill plates, all in one day. Very friendly, knowledgable, professional and unobtrusive in providing their services."

"First off the job I was wanting done was a small job. I installed a window in the mud room and when I removed the paneling in the wall to cut the hole for the window, I found unexpected voids in the wall from the previous work. I also put up a stud wall in the west of the mud room. My original plan was to fully insulate with foam the mud room because it was the only room in the house left exposed to outside temperature changes. I expected to pay fully for the work.
Chris, owner and president of Air Tight, came over to give me a proper estimate for the work I wanted done. I showed Chris all that I wanted done from the garage end first and then I showed him the wall with the newly installed window. He noticed the voids in the wall and was surprised because his company "does not do substandard work," as Chris put it. I was prepared to pay for the new work I wanted done, but he told me Air Tight of Kansas would do it for free.
Air Tight of Kansas stands behind their work more than a 100%. I could not be happier with the insulation. The house stays  warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer with the new heating and cooling system without sky high bills. There is no more creaking or popping with the change in temperature any longer. As an added bonus to the foam insulation, there is less movement do to strong winds, one can hardly hear the wind or rain for that matter.
The employees are excited about their product and that excitement I picked up on at the Home Show, where I was introduced to foam installation as a retrofit option. The cost was reasonable and I expect to pay less in gas and electricity for heating and cooling over the next few years.
I highly recommend Air Tight of Kansas for new construction and remodeling for your insulation needs.

"I wasn't too happy with the results we got when trying to get a bid from Young. After coming out and getting my ideas and measurements they came back saying that they were going to decline the offer saying due to time sensitivity and budget they were not going to be able to submit a bid. When originally speaking with Young he said time shouldn't be an issue if we got started right away and never asked me my budget range before coming out. Personally, I don't think the job we were asking to get done was worth what they were trying to put it in the price range of (50-75k). I guess I'll just have to look in to a smaller company that seems more reasonable...  "

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Insulation service projects in Topeka can impact your HVAC system by improving efficiency and potentially reducing future system size. Before starting, check that electrical fixtures and attic insulation don’t create fire hazards, and confirm attic ventilation is adequate for KS humidity. For older homes, assess moisture control and structural load to ensure insulation upgrades won’t create new issues.

Helpful?

For insulation service projects in Topeka, spray foam is ideal for sealing air leaks and boosting energy efficiency, while blown-in cellulose works well for attic insulation. Fiberglass batts are commonly used in walls, and rigid foam boards are best for basements. Aim for an attic insulation R-value of R-38 to R-60 to handle Topeka’s temperature swings and improve year-round home comfort.

Helpful?

When hiring insulation service professionals in Topeka, prioritize those with local experience, proper insurance, and strong references from recent home insulation projects. Ask about their approach to air sealing, moisture control, and compliance with Topeka’s building codes. Request detailed written estimates and avoid paying in full upfront. Reputable pros will offer warranties and understand the unique climate needs of the area.

Helpful?

If your Topeka home has high energy bills, uneven temperatures, frequent drafts, or visible ice dams in winter, it’s likely time for insulation service projects. Homes built before 1980 or with insulation older than 15 years often need upgrades. Scheduling insulation in spring or fall helps you avoid peak demand and prepares your home for KS’s seasonal weather shifts.

Helpful?

Combining insulation service projects in Topeka with HVAC upgrades, duct sealing, or window and door improvements can maximize energy efficiency and streamline labor. Coordinating these upgrades may qualify you for utility rebates or tax credits. Bundling projects also minimizes disruption and ensures your home is ready for KS’s temperature extremes, delivering long-term comfort and energy savings.
