Our inspectors are accredited Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultants (CIEC) through American Council for Accredited Certification, certified EIFS inspectors through Exterior Design Institute and Moisture Warranty; certified as AHERA Asbestos Building Inspectors. EPA approved certification and state registration is required for asbestos inspections and/or testing. However, certification and registration is NOT required for mould inspections or testing services. There is no licensing required for either asbestos or mould inspections or testing services. We do not utilize sub-contractors. We provide a list of recommended companies for our clients' who need abatement or remediation services. Mold is a fungus that loves to grow in moist, humid places. It’s typically black or green and has a raised, uneven texture. Stay vigilant for signs mold may be growing in your home. 

You’ll find mildew growing on your shower walls and in your bathroom’s nooks and crannies. It’s a specific type of mold that grows flat. Mildew is usually white, gray, or yellow.

Checking for mold yourself is crucial, as catching mold in the early stages is ideal. Mold can appear green, brown, black, blue, or yellow. It can smell musty and can feel like velvet, leather, or cotton. 

Most often, mold grows near water damage. It’s best to inspect these places for signs of mold growth:

  • Basement: Look in corners, windows, carpet, closets, and around appliances. 

  • Bathrooms: Check around sinks, ceilings, and around toilets. 

  • Kitchen: Inspect around the sink, behind the refrigerator, and behind trash can.

  • Attic: Look near the insulation and near intake and exhaust vents.
