"The locksmith with All Lockouts was very nice and professional. The response time to my request was very fast and the price was really reasonable. He explained everything he was going to do before he did it so that I would know exactly what was going on which gave me great confidence that he knew what he was doing. I will recommend this company to everyone who needs a locksmith!"

"Went very well. Bob arrived as expected, was very professional. As the opening was not standard it took him a few hours to get the doors to fit properly but was done to perfection. However, when I painted the doors the trim swelled up and prevented the doors from closing, but No Worries as I call Bob and he came out the same day and fixed the problem. Overall job well done and at a reasonable price. Will call him for future projects !!!! 5 Star rating !!!"

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Rekeying should be done when employees leave or keys are lost, while replacement may be necessary for outdated or damaged locks.

Yes, as long as it’s thick enough for the deadbolt. Most interior hollow core doors are at least 1 1/2-inches thick, which is usually the minimum requirement for a deadbolt. You’ll want to find the lock block first before installing. Also, most hollow doors require additional reinforcement for locks, such as a reinforcement plate or plywood block.

Rekeying your own locks is a low-cost task that prevents you from having to replace the locks themselves completely. The first couple of times you rekey a lock may be challenging because this is an intermediate DIY task. You can purchase a rekey kit from most hardware stores, but make sure you’re buying the kit from the brand of lock in your home that you’re going to rekey.

Security experts recommend deadbolt locks as the most secure option for a house's exterior or entry doors. Deadbolts provide the best security because they can prevent most types of forced entry and are harder to lockpick. Common types include the standard single-cylinder deadbolt, which is often found on front doors. For enhanced security, you can opt for a double-cylinder deadbolt, which requires a key to operate from both the inside and the outside.

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.
