"These guys have done my firewood for years now. I did not know that they also did tree removal and shrub service. I had a tree fall on my fence and mentioned this to them and they said they could handle that. They removed a 100 year old tree, they had the equipment, trailers and manpower to do it. They did a quick and efficient job. They are really nice guys. They are professional."

"I hired Matt Moore of Double M Groundwork to clear and level a significant portion of my farm, the results exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning Matt demonstrated a high level of professionalism, showing up on time, communicating clearly and outlining the entire process so I knew exactly what to expect. Overall, this was a top-notch experience. If you’re looking for someone reliable, skilled, and honest to handle your next project, I highly recommend Double M Groundwork. "We contacted Doerr Enterprises this last fall to trim our tree in our front yard that was looking a little sad. He was very prompt to get to the job, get it done and cleaned up! We have also hired him for the first snow we got so far this year and he cleaned our drive in no time! Would highly recommend his services!"

"We had been looking for someone to repair a damaged step on a front porch. We tried about 4-5 companies and they either said no the job was too small or they had no time or they didn’t respond. Shawn Hiatts first response to us was I think it is going to warm up next week, I can get it done then. He showed up and did the work. He went above and beyond by making the step a little wider, which was very acceptable to us. Less chance of falling off as the other step was not so wide. Also we were aware of needing dirt work done around the house and rock out over it. He told us that we might want to get dirt work done to save damage layer. We told him yes we knew it needed done. He offered to do it at a very reasonable price. That evening the dirt work was done and the next morning rock was down. He is very efficient and professional. We will definitely use him again when we need more work done!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Palm tree stumps can take as long as seven to ten years to rot naturally. Whereas some tree stumps rot within a year, palm trees tend to last longer due to their deep root networks. Chemical rotting (described above) can help speed the process up so your palm tree stumps rot in under two months.

A dead tree should always be cut down, because it could fall and cause injuries or damage, and it can also attract insects like carpenter ants. A tree that’s diseased beyond repair should also be cut down, but it’s not always easy for a homeowner to tell. Signs of disease include dying branches, a hollow trunk, leaning, and discolored or missing leaves, but your best bet is to hire a local arborist who can evaluate the tree and tell you if it can be saved or should be cut down.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.
