"Huff's Tree Service was contracted to remove 2 massive trees along with a medium one. Crew worked a full day and did a great job! Crew was friendly, professional and they left things looking neat and tidy. Haul away of large pieces was completed the same day, and stumps ground beyond our expectations within a reasonable time frame. Crew was courteous to our neighbors'properties as well. Will definitely consider them for future needs, and highly recommend them to anyone needing a professional tree service."

"This was the first time using GreenLeaf Tree Care & Pruning. They were recommended on The Nextdoor Neighborhood. I was very pleased with there service. They were very easy to work with. Justin had good advice or options I could use. They far exceeded my expectations of the final job. They took care in the cleanup work. Every place they worked around the yard looked very nice after they were done. I had some large arborvitaes I wanted removed and then trim limbs that overhung my yard from a large neighbors tree. I wanted to open of the end of my yard so I had more sun. I did not expect I would get the stumps removed at the same time. I can not speak highly enough of the job they did and how easy they were to communicate and work with. I will most definitely call them for any future jobs and also recommend them to others...you can't go wrong. I am extremely happy with the finished job!!"

Small jobs welcome

"David and Larry did a great job trimming our trees. I enjoyed watching them "brainstorm and think out loud" on how to approach the job and gave my wife and I options and professional suggestions during the estimate/bid process. Their prices were very competitive and I have a soft spot for small father-and-son entrepreneurs. We did have some struggles with the time frame of the job and communication of when the are coming over, but we were in no big hurry. David allowed us to make installments making the big job fit within our fixed income budget. We are planning to hire them for future landscaping projects this spring. Great bunch of nice guys!"

"I hired Adam to replace an old chain link fence that I had with a new cedar fence, although the actual start date would about a month away when I would be out of town. When that date actually got here Adam was here exactly when he promised to be and on my return 5 days later the new fence was up and he was finishing with the double wide gate. The entire job looked amazing and I won't hesitate for a minute to use him again in the future. Adam knows exactly what he is doing and he is very professional. Steve 5/2026"

"Everyone from McCune Tree Service provided professional and efficient service, from Tyler, who quoted the job, to the climber who cut down the large cottonwood tree in our yard, to the lady who came by to haul off the brush and the larger logs from the tree. They also did a great job of grinding down the stump and some large exposed roots."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Tree removal can be quite expensive, especially for larger projects, but you can use the following tips to help keep costs down:

  • Do the yard cleanup afterward yourself

  • Choose to leave the logs on your property and split them yourself

  • Opt to leave the stump in the ground and tackle stump grinding yourself

  • Pull permits for tree removal, if necessary, to avoid fines

  • Pay to have multiple trees removed at once

  • Remove tree in the late winter or early spring during off-season

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

If you’re buying a small tree with lots of room to grow, expect to pay around $100 to $200 for a potted version. But if you’re buying a larger tree—say one over 10 feet—prices rise, starting in the $500 to $600 range and increasing quickly from there. Keep in mind that paying for professional palm tree planting or transplanting services will increase the cost.

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.
