"Huff’s Tree Service did a fantastic job in removing a large dying cottonwood tree, re-shaping another tree, and pruning dead limbs out of two large oak trees. Professional, courteous, prompt, great communication, and wonderful clean up afterwards. Highly recommend!!"

"After living in my home for over 20 years with 12 mature trees on the property, I've hired tree services many times. Every two or three years, the trees need trimming, pruning, or general maintenance. In the past, I typically chose the larger, well-established companies. They consistently did quality work, but their prices were always on the high end. This time, I decided to use Angi and was connected with Blane and his crew at Treeus. From the first conversation through the final cleanup, they were absolutely outstanding. They were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and clearly took pride in their work. They carefully trimmed my trees, paid attention to the health and appearance of each one, and left my property spotless when they were finished. What impressed me just as much as the quality of the work was the value. Their price was roughly 50% less than the quotes I received from some of the larger companies in the Wichita area."

"These guys did great work. The job was a tree removal. The crew had to take down a portion of my chain link fence to get their lift in position to cut the tree. They removed the tree and put the fence back up in about three hours. Super job."

"Drew is very thorough and professional. He called before he came, and arrived on time. He finished the job early and cleaned up before he left. When he went over the energy audit report with me, he patiently answered all my questions, and gave me great information so I can start my energy saving projects. I highly recommend."

"AMAZING experience. I would definitely recommend Sawdust Tree Expert. I had a fairly large tree that needed to be removed, they gave me a very fair quote, and did an amazing job. In no time at all the tree was down and all the branches were gone. Absolutely blown away by their professionalism, their attention to details and their work ethics. Not to mention they were pleasant to speak with....I felt very pleased when they were done."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.

If you don’t trim your palm trees, you can expect several negative outcomes, including:

  • Unhealthy palm trees attract pests, diseases, and fungi

  • Dead falling fronds can cause severe injury or damage to your home, pedestrians, or cars

  • Dead palm branches are flammable and can catch fire, especially during a lightning storm

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

Yes, it is essential to confirm that any tree service company you hire is properly insured before they begin work. Tree removal, trimming, and pruning are dangerous jobs, and proper insurance protects you, your home, and the company from liability in case of accidents or damage. Look for a company that carries both general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and do not hire one that cannot provide proof of coverage. When browsing for professionals, you can look for indicators like an “Angi Approved” badge, which signifies that the business meets standards like holding applicable licenses and passing a background check. Keep in mind that a license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are typically voluntary.
