"Morningstar made the initial contact.  They measured and bid and were on time and very professional.  Installation was to occur between 4-6 weeks.  At 5 weeks, they called and offered to install them on the Memorial Day holiday.  ?Darren? arrived at 10:00 and worked until 4:00.  During this time he installed all of the windows, caulked the inside and outside and was very meticulous about keeping my home and furniture clean.  He picked up all work materials and there was no mess left for me to worry about.  When he left here, there was no sign that he had been here except the beautiful windows!  On Tuesday evening, he finished up the framing out and caulking/sealing.

They are working hard to be the best, and they are!"

"Vantage Point Exteriors replaced our roof and installed 18 windows, James Hardie cement-board siding, new gutters, and painted?all in about 11 working days.  Ours is a 5,000-square-foot home.  Before we contracted with Matt and Katie, we watched our neighbor?s work done by Vantage Point Exteriors.  Then, we asked what was her experience with Matt and Katie:  she enthusiastically praised their work and highly recommended them.

We have completely rehabbed five of our homes and this is the best contractor we have ever dealt with.  The experience was much better than we anticipated.  Numerous neighbors arrived and drove by to give thumbs-ups and comment how neatly the crews were working.

The crews (roofing, siding, windows, gutters, painting) came on time and finished before promised; that is, they ?under-promised and over-delivered?.  They protected our landscaping and maintained a neat working environment?cleaning up every evening.  The roof guys even washed our skylights without charge or complaint?just a smile.  The siding crew (headed by Dalton Silva) was not only professional and efficient but one guy sang happy songs--very entertaining.  All the crews were courteous to the neighbors as well.

We dreaded this ?total home makeover? but Matt and Katie made it a turn-key experience.  They truly strive to not only please but impress their customers.  They are techno-geeks who run their business quickly and efficiently.  They answer phone calls and resolve concerns immediately or within minutes.  Matt and Katie made sure we were aware of every aspect of the work being done as it was happening, both verbally and sending photos electronically.
When Matt first quoted the price, it was so affordable we thought he forgot to include cost of the roof!  We received the best value for our money, hands-down.  CHOOSING THIS COMPANY WILL BE ONE OF YOUR BEST DECISIONS.,

"This project took nearly two weeks.  It was the middle of December and cold.  It took longer than I was expecting because of the
cold weather, but the crew did work steady.   Afterward I had the same shingles put on my little barn/shed, and was told in advance that it would cost me $300.00.  In the end, they charged me $500.00.
Every time this company went to dump old shingles/materials, they charged me $100.00.  I was never told of this ahead of time.
They were very expensive and I've learned a good lesson, get every little detail in writing ahead of time.

Showed up on time , very knowledgeable , professional . Give me an estimate on a couple of bigger projects I might do in the future . Also pointed out a couple of things that need to be fixed around the house. Everything was good with the exception of the price , actual work took about an hour and half (in addition , he had to run to the store to get something that he ended up not using ),  I thought $375 is too much for less than 2 hours worth of work ! I was planning on using them again for a couple of summer projects but not sure I will now !

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.

In most cases, installing skylights will add value to your home, making them a worthwhile investment for many homeowners. Buyers are often attracted to the aesthetic appeal of skylights, as they make rooms feel brighter, airier, and more spacious by introducing natural light without compromising privacy. Beyond aesthetics, skylights can offer monetary benefits by potentially reducing energy bills. Additionally, models that can be opened provide extra ventilation, which is particularly useful in hotter climates for allowing accumulated hot air to escape from the ceiling. However, the return on investment depends on several factors. To maximize value, it's crucial that the skylights are installed by an experienced professional to avoid risks like water damage, which can deter savvy buyers. Regular maintenance and cleaning are also important. Furthermore, choosing the right frame and glazing materials for your specific climate will enhance their performance and appeal. While skylights are generally seen as an asset, homeowners should also consider the initial cost, which averages around $1,500 for installation.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.
