The only time that it's okay to leave a paintbrush in water overnight is when you're trying to remove dried-on paint. However, don't allow the bristles to rest on the bottom of the container. Remember that soaking it longer than necessary can damage the brush.

Yes, washable bathroom paint is widely available. Manufacturers specially formulate washable bathroom paint to resist damage from frequent cleaning and scrubbing, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like bathrooms. This type of paint generally comes with a semi-gloss or satin finish that you can easily wipe clean with a damp cloth. Additionally, because washable paint has more binding agents than regular paint, it tends to be more durable and lasts longer after application.

You can hide wallpaper seams when painting by applying joint compound over them and then sanding thoroughly until smooth. You’ll want to apply two layers of compound, allowing for four to eight hours between coats. Do a light sanding between coats and then after the final coat is dry. Once the compound dries completely, you can begin priming and painting the wall.

Because satin paint has a sheen to it, it will highlight curves and contours. While that’s great for trim, it’s not so excellent for your repaired drywall that has a few small blemishes. In addition, satin paint will stick to your surface better if it’s primed. Sand and prime your surface before applying satin paint for best results.

Using a paint roller to paint your ceiling will allow you to cover the surface quicker and more evenly than using a brush. You may want to use a brush to cut in at the ceiling seam and around light fixtures, but it’s much faster and easier to use a roller for the bulk of the job.
