"Excellent!! The work was professionally done and exactly what we needed. I would hire Fusion Electric again for future electrical work -- they did an outstanding job! Dilan and Jacob were the electricians who did the work. They were very easy to work with, very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Everything they did looks great and works great. An outstanding job from start to finish!"

"Daniel with Mr. Sparky KC completed a big project requiring our home & moving our panel. Daniel was excellent in troubleshooting our unusual electrical system & bringing it up to maximum efficiency & safety. Scheduling for the project fit well into our schedule. Updating our system involved several unexpected complications, but Daniel persisted until each was corrected. "I discovered the old knob-and-tube wiring in my house was actually burning, and Austin from VoltPro Electric got to work immediately. He removed all of the knob-and-tube wiring and completed a full rewire in a very clean and well-organized way. The work was done in sections so my child and I could continue living in the house comfortably while everything was being upgraded. Austin kept everything neat and professional and finished the entire job in just one week. The total cost was only $10,000, and VoltPro Electric offered easy financing which made the project affordable for me. The house feels safe again and the work looks excellent. I truly wish I could give VoltPro Electric more than 5 stars. Highly recommend."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If your plug feels hot to the touch, it’s likely a sign of an electrical issue that needs immediate attention. Check for signs of melting or discoloration around the plug, as well as any burning smells or smoke. If you notice any of these signs, immediately unplug any devices and do not use the outlet again until it’s been inspected by a qualified electrician.

To prevent a plug from overheating, always ensure that the electrical load connected to the plug does not exceed the plug's capacity. If the plug feels hot to the touch or emits a burning smell, immediately shut off the circuit breaker and unplug all devices from the hot outlet. Prevent electrical fires by avoiding using extension cords or adapters with the plug, as they can cause it to overheat due to increased resistance. Additionally, ensure that the plug is properly inserted into the outlet and that the outlet is not damaged or loose.

The life expectancy of a circuit breaker is 30 to 40 years. However, how long your circuit breaker lasts depends on the condition of your electrical equipment, the amperage, your electrical consumption, and more. A breaker box that frequently trips from overload will last much shorter than a breaker box with the proper amperage for the number of devices and appliances in use. If your circuit breaker trips frequently, and you have also increased your electrical consumption, it may be worth upgrading your electrical panel to extend your electrical system’s lifespan—and save you the hassle of frequent power trips.

Incorrectly wiring a single-pole switch results in the connected light or device not turning on or tripping the circuit breaker. Although it doesn't matter which terminal the hot wire and the load wire connect to, mixing up a circuit wire with a ground or having loose connections can prevent the switch from working.

The number of outlets and lights you can safely run on a single circuit depends on the circuit's amperage and local electrical codes. A general rule is to allow one outlet or light fixture per 1.5 amps, keeping the total load under 80% of the circuit breaker's capacity. For example, a 15-amp circuit can typically support up to eight outlets or lights, while a 20-amp circuit can accommodate up to ten. Always consider the combined power usage of all connected devices and fixtures to prevent overloading. For specific guidelines and to ensure safety, it is best to consult local electrical codes or a licensed electrician.
