"I was fortunate that Jeff Butler had an opening in his schedule to do my 4 day. He was able to get in and get my job finished with a full crew. I am very pleased that I was able to find an hire him to do my 2000 sq ft ceramic tile job. He and his crew did a great job and they were careful and neat, and his price was reasonable. They do other types of flooring jobs too. I highly recommend Butler Flooring. Thank you Angie."

"BC Construction and Remodeling, LLC, has good work ethics and are very professional. My kitchen cabinets were modified to fit a larger refrigerator in the space. The cabinets that were sized down, look like they were originally built that way. Modifications were also done on the cabinets above the stove to fit a microwave in the space. In summary, the project was done in a timely manner. The work was excellent. I would highly recommend this company. I am so glad I chose this company for this project. I would hire them again for any future projects."

"Dennis did a beautiful job in installing tile in a very small space. He was able to complete this job just a few days after I posted my request and the price was very reasonable."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Tile installation can be expensive because it requires more time and labor to install than many other materials. For example, laminate flooring can click and lock into place, and carpet comes in large rolls that you can secure to the floor. On the other hand, tiles need to be cut, laid individually, grouted, and left to cure.

Solvents dissolve tile adhesive, but the right solvent for the job depends on what type of adhesive you are trying to remove. For instance, dispersion adhesive requires stronger removers, like bile soap or even paint stripper, but some adhesives, like cement-based products, can come off with water and soap or mortar remover.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.
