"Legacy Home did a fantastic job with installing a brand new fence. I told them of long and wide the fence should be and they built exactly what I asked for. Overall I am extremely excited for my brand new fence."

"Ten years ago we had our already large deck expanded and upgraded from wood to composite. Earlier this year we noticed that our deck began to sag, and within weeks it almost collapsed. Marco to the rescue! He was able to show us why the deck collapsed. I was clearly poor workmanship by the previous company. Our deck was beautifully rebuilt using a majority of the existing composite material, thus keeping our costs to a minimum. We plan to use Marco for additional changes to the deck. We would highly recommend him!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

The life expectancy of deck boards varies widely based on the material, climate, and maintenance. Untreated wood boards typically last 10 to 30 years with proper care, while pressure-treated boards can last up to 50 years. Hardwoods generally outlast softwoods. Composite boards also tend to last longer than natural wood. Environmental factors like arid or humid climates can shorten a deck's lifespan. To extend the life of wood decking, it's important to consistently clean and seal it to protect against moisture, UV light, and insects.

No, it isn’t necessary to skirt a deck, but investing in the cost to install deck skirting can bring more value to your home. Not only does deck skirting make the deck look more complete, but it can also turn otherwise unused space beneath the deck into useful storage space.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

The cost to repair a deck is between $900 and $3,500, depending on the cause and extent of the damage. For example, fixing a sinking deck caused by pest damage can cost between $200 and $600, while replacing sinking boards costs between $500 and $4,000.

Coping is the material that lines the perimeter of a pool and seals the transition between the top of the pool wall and the water. Decking surrounds the poolscape and extends far beyond the water's edge to provide a safe walking and lounging area. In short, coping is the border between the decking and the pool itself.
