"FD General Contractors were so nice, professional and Davis and Franklin were so accommodating. When they finished installing the fence they made sure I was satisfied with the work they did, and they did an excellent job of cleaning up when done. I would highly recommend this company."

"Great contractor. I had drywall finished after I messed it all up and they came in and fixed everything I ruined and made it look like it should. They were able to work around my schedule (Saturday and Sunday) and had more done in 2 days than what I had done in 2 weeks. Strongly recommend QM Professional. I have them quoting more jobs for me."

"Manny and company did a fabulous job installing a chain-link fence in our backyard! Time was of the essence as we were in dire need of a fence to keep our dogs in the yard. Manny came a day early and measured what we wanted and they were there at 7:30 a.m. the very next day and completed the job. They took the extra effort to make sure the bottom of the fence was in a trench in the ground, so our dogs cannot escape. When they completed the job, Manny did a walk-around with us to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We are extremely pleased with their workmanship and our dogs are happily running around in the yard! Thank you!!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

If the holes in the plaster are small, you can fill them with layers of patching plaster until they’re filled. After it dries, you can sand the plaster and paint over it. If the hole is much larger, consider using bonding plaster first and then a layer of patching plaster, completing the process with sanding and a layer of paint.

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

Drywall can be installed directly on ceiling joists. In fact, this method is common in many construction projects. Drywall sheets are attached to the joists using screws, ensuring a secure and stable installation. Before attaching the drywall, it's important to mark the joist locations on the ceiling, allowing for accurate screw placement. Proper spacing between screws and careful taping and mudding of joints are crucial to creating a smooth and flawless ceiling surface. If the joists are in good condition and level, installing drywall directly on them is a practical and efficient approach.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.
